I cannot get that stupid crankshaft bolt off for nothing. No matter what I do. Is it possible to continue with the front 60k maint without taking that crankshaft pulley off?

Do you have a bolt that will fit in the small hole of the pully? If so, get a chain that will fit over that bolt and chain that sucker to the subframe. Then have at the big bolt with some leverage.

Starter bump no good, does nothing and makes the bolt head worse and worse. Putting a bolt in the pulley doesn't sound like a bad idea. My roommates a mechanic with a lot of tools, He's going to bring the tool that is used to remove wheel locking nuts that have no key.
But if worse comes to worse, is it possible to still work around it, just not change the crankshaft seal. Could I still get that timing belt off. Seems the lower cover is hard to remove. With that pulley there. Any tricks?

r u using a 6 point impact socket ?
Even better, that 6 point impact socket attached to an impact wrench. Shouldn't take more than a couple hits so a small portable compressor or one of those electric impacts should have more to loosen the bolt.
Just watch now that you don't round the bolt further! If the bolt is already damaged, you stand a good chance of rounding it off completely with the impact!

I gave up, put everything back together. The belt is still good with no cracks or problems, and still tight. It was the seals I wanted to change most, they leak. Oh well, i'm taking the car to alabama later this week, wish me luck.

At some point, your going to need to replace it. You didn't mention what type of socket you were using? So far, I've never had an issue removing the crank bolt via the starter bump, and a 6 point 19mm / 3/4 inch socket.

My impact wrench didn't have enough torque to get it off, but the starter bump worked like a charm - but, as mentioned, you do need a 6-point socket, or you screw up the bolt head...

sooner or later it would be a good thing to change it because I have a 92 MTX and it never had a 60K done and it's at 169,521 mile's. it's leaking like a siv!!!.....smoke everywhere. Iam going to replace mine this weekend. If you do so happen to round off the bolt Sears sell's a bolt back out kit.

I had similar problems.... I took it to a mechanic that had a powerful impact and he zipped it right off. You can access that pulley without taking the wheel off. Just turn your steering wheel all the way and zip it off. FYI, he was using that heavy duty thunder gun (lightening), the one thats red and you can get it at harbor freight for like 80 bucks.

We had one **** of a time getting mine off as well and I was at the mechanics shop. Beat on it pretty good with 2 different 1/2in impact guns and still couldnt get it to budge. He finnaly broke out the 3/4in impact and it finnally came loose. I dont think that one would have came off with hand tools at all.
