Got it finished, checked, and double checked the crank bolt....blasted it a number of times w/ my 1/2" impact, torqued it w/ the torque wrench w/ all my 205lbs of body force, etc.

Took it through the neighborhood and realized the steering was moaning and smoking...oops reservoir was empty! Guess it leaked out when I moved it around...refilled...OK.

This bothered me--at 1st, some white steam was coming out of the tail pipes. Checked oil, no "chocolate milk". Took it out and ran it hard for 5 min (7k rpms). Blew out that mess....no more smoking out the tail pipes....but I have a gurgling sound from my radiator and I have steam coming out from underneath the motor where the cats are...WTF is that?

Otherwise, the car runs fine.

...and oil and and whatever you used to clean everything and drained down to the cat.

Since you opened the cooling system, you'll need to burp it. Or just wait and add water as necessary.

Ok.....just checked it again...I get a miss if I rev the engine, seems to do ok at idle, but one time it stumbled and the oil light popped on then went right off as soon as the idle corrected itself and smoothed out....took a stethoscope to the oil pan; no bottom end knocks....I think the extreme heat + oil (i think the PO said he ran the thin 5w-30), plus a stumbling idle would cause that.....but it's not staying on or flickering. Get a high pitched whine when I rev it too. I'll take a video later....camera is dead. I plan on doing an oil change anyway since it hasn't been done since I've had the car---and I'll use 10w-30.

Maybe the leaky valve cover gaskets have just gotten so bad they're now fouling the plugs?

5w-30 isn't thin....

You didn't over tension the belts did you? Could be the whine. Seems like they all do it?

Thanks for the help everyone. I burned off all that crap finally after running it awhile; I bought another jug of 50/50 coolant, topped off, and burped the system, adjusted the belts, and it seems to run a bit quieter. Just has a miss still, which my valve cove gaskets are leaking bad, so I'm assuming it's that....didn't do it before though. I timed the engine correctly and made SURE all of the marks lined up, so I hope the belt didn't skip a tooth. It was on nice and tight when I rechecked the marks. I pulled the codes when I put the car back together; only that stupid 14 code again (boost control solenoid) which seems to do nothing. No misfire codes---thinking fouled plugs still.

Did you try cleaning the MAF? Are all the hoses on the intake tight?

I am missing one bolt the crossover tube, but DuWayne (SHO1) sent me some extras. I will install that....I tightened the clamps down tight on it though. I have cleaned the MAF previously before I did this..but it wouldn't hurt to do it again. I'm going to reinstall the battery tray and splash shield and tighten everything up now that I've got the belts adjusted properly and am pretty confident everything else is correct. Just wanted to be sure before I installed EVERYTHING in case I had to take it back apart.

Curious though, if the timing belt was off 1 notch, would it do this or would it not run at all? If I accelerate hard it stumbles and the tach is erratic and jumps all over, but I just replaced the CID, so I know it's fine.
