Think I got another SHO of Shame today. Took my SHO into a big Ford dealership due to engine always running cold to get the thermo fixed.

They said the thermo was fine and that it was my fault for the car running cold because I had the "Automatic" button on my climate control on making both cooling fans run constantly. What the ****? The engine does heat up into the normal when I'm not running the "Automatic"....

Question: Is this normal or am I getting a load from this big Ford dealer who doesn't have a SHO trained tech?

Thanks for the response from my last post. I do so appreciate it.

Tell them to remove their heads from their sphincters. Did they even replace the thermostat? Did they show you the thermostat?

I guess the question I'd have to ask is do you have heat? If you have good heat then I'd say your thermostat is fine. If not, then that would be the first thing I'd check.

Now as for the engine running cool. I'm not sure if the Auto button controls anything but the inside fan or not. My car, compared to most everybody else's runs very cool. It doesn't matter if it's on Auto or not in my car. In the summer it's mostly half way (on very hot days) or below and in the winter it very rarely rises above the white line on the low side unless I'm at a light or in heavy traffic. I do suspect I need a new thermostat, but it still kicks out heat...just not as much as it should.

I don't know how much this will help, but sometimes other experiences are helpful.

Its your T-Stat. That just goes to show you that its bad if it runs cooler when your on auto. its cooling your motor more. Mine was doing the same thnig. Once you replace your t-stat your needle will run between the M and the A on NORMAL. Tell them to shut up and just change it cause thats what you want them to do. AND also make sure they show you the t-stat.

BIZZY....thats exactly how mine was...you need one too. The auto button run you cooling fan constant the same way that you A/C does. If your in any other mode besides A/C and AUTO then the fan will only come on when your needle gets upto about N of Normal.

Yeah Bizzy, get in there and change it. All mine still had good heat(well I've never really used it in the red bstrd) but they all had bad thermostats. If it takes more than twenty minutes, go back to sho school.
