I found an electric super turbo on ebay for $50. i had good reviews up to 25% hp gain and more mileage. I was going to givr it a try. It looks like a turbo that hooks to the air inlet.

25% more power?

you realize its just a crappy little fan for moving air, not pressurizing it, right ?

youll gain nothing except a lighter wallet if you install this

Those actually hurt your power as they can't flow enough...

I hope you are joking around though as it says you are a mechanic in your profile...

automotive repair and performance modifications are 2 totally different things, might as well compare doing plumbing to doing performance mods

Without knowing SOME automotive repair, you have no business doing performance modifications.

Gotta walk before you can run.

False. Unless you are talking about mindless maintenance such as brake jobs, oil changes and tires, then yes. That's why pep boys will work on your car.

However, if you can correct a drivability issue using your understanding of the way engine operates, you should have a pretty good idea of what will hinder or improve an engine's performance.

I guess the word 'mechanic' is often used loosely.

Not trying to be a ********, just stickin up for the good mechanics out there.

I have worked professionally with dealership mechanics that had memorized every TSB (service bulletins) they ever laid their hands on, and could diagnose almost any issue, almost instinctively, but had little or no idea of the real CFM demands of the engines they worked on. They also had little awareness of the aftermarket. These were not however, Ford or Chevy mechanics. They were Volvo mechanics. Not everyone is interested in performance. Volvo peeps are a little:nut:

There's an analogue here with piano players. There are two types; mechanical and souful. Mechanical players are those who simply reproduce the notes exactly as written without any regard to how the song flows or the thematic elements at play... they don't care. E sharp at mezzopiano, check. It's nice... but it doesn't convey any feeling or emotion.

Then there are those who make the music feel alive... they don't just play it, they recreate the meaning and the feelings behind it. They play their soul through their hands, and their music is great. Victor Borge, Scott Joplin, those are the ones I'm talking about.

Same thing with mechanics. There are those who read the book, and it says "remove bolt A." They remove bolt A. End of story. These are generally the type who work at Pep Boys, Mr. Tire, etc.. (yes I know there are lots of skilled mechanics of the other type who work there for a paycheck, but you know who you are...) and then there are those who truly understand what they're doing, and why, and they know the effects of what they're doing. Those are the types who can hear a noise, any noise, and immediately (and correctly) troubleshoot the problem. They can do that because they know more than "The engine bone is connected to the transmission bone". They know, and can visualize, exacly what is going on inside an engine, a transmission, a CV axle, a strut, a differential, and they can visualize what can cause it to fail, and how.

Those are the same types who generally know whether a mod is going to hurt or help an engine because they can visualize how the mod works, and the effect it has on the rest of the engine.

I can see that the hair dryer fan blades are going to be far more of a restriction than a help as there's no way they'll spin fast enough. As can pretty much everybody else on this forum lol. There are an awful lot of that latter type of mechanic here, and I think that's why SHOForum is such a better place than any Honduh forum, which is packed to the gills with "remove bolt A".

Stick around, kid, you'll learn something.
