"needs a new head" in other words, needs a motor. Can anyone say CAM FAILURE! Unless you have a spare V8 laying aroung, I would steer clear of the car. IMHO. Anyone else care to chime in?

just called the guy he said he would go as low as 600. All the parts are there ust missing the heads from the front set. Any knows what is involved as to putting it together. It is a 3.4 engine. How much am I looking at to get a set of heads for the front. The guy said the cams are fine it was in the process of having some work done to it and the owner took the heads in to have them machined and never paided to get them so it has been just sitting.

He posted the ad to get opinions on purchasing the car, not trying to sell a car or advertise for a buddy of his. I know it's "forum illegal" to post CL ads, but I think exceptions can be made. :swing:

well i know what your saying, and im not trying to be a ****, but alot of times they will delete it. but who knows. he was new(well not high post count) so i was just letting him know. just thought i would help ppl out so the thread doesnt get deleted. but if i had time i would buy a cam failure v-8 but i dont have a garage or time sooo.....

How would I know when I go and look at it if it is a cam failure and if it has been repaired. From what I understand all I need is the heads which may be still around the shop that machined them will call on monday. They will have been laying around for like 2 or 3 years now so probally not still there.

Not worth the head ache. Find a running car and have it welded. Especially if it has been sitting for 2 years. You now have possible brake issues, flat tires, possible bearing damage from when the valves and pistons hit, who knows.

Will do are heads hard to find for these or just any v8 ford heads will work

Yeah just take ANY year mustang heads they will work perfectly! No that's mean they won't don't listen to me but I would not buy this car it needs a WHOLE new motor. The one there is not worth messing around with.. Also who knows how that tranny will be not being driven and everything else like someone else stated. Pass it on and buy a running one and weld it!:swing:

The heads are V8 SHO specific, and honestly you've been given good advice. You're going to spend about $2k for rebuilt heads, and another $1k or so for head gaskets and head bolts (hard to find), on an unknown engine that could have other problems once you get it fired up.

If you've got a V8 engine, or a crashed up parts car with a good drivetrain, it's worth it. If you don't have that stuff, pass on the car.

If you are handy, it is not going to be too tough, except for finding all the parts that are needed to put it back together. Someone may have came by and pulled a few parts in the time it sat too.

If the car has sat (again I said this in post #11) you can expect other problems to quickly come up after you would get it going. Was the engine at idle when it failed, WOT, Half throttle, Cruising, Decelerating, etc. etc.

Not worth the trouble IMHO unless you have a wrecked parts car to swap everything into.

Again, just my .02
