This is my second mid-life crisis SHO. First one *****, cosmetically, by inept thieves...(CD player didn't even work, but the drivers window was busted out to get it). 1991/black on black
Got another, 89/white on black. Drove it 2 years no problems.
Now somedays it starts right up goes like ****, some days it goes a frw miles and just cuts off, sometimes it won't even start--depends on her mood, I guess.
Anyway, read about getting coolant on the timing belt-having just changed the water pump and housing..(crossover pipe "o-ring" failed at 10:00 and 2:00 position).
Now I am afraid to drive it because of what has been said about getting coolant on the timing belt.
Car really does have only 23,816 miles. Rats must have lived in the valley under the intakes for years and years from all the insulation I pulled out while changing the water pump.
Why does it just cut off sometimes and pop and sputter trying to fire up again?

Maybe the CPS, or cam positions sensor... idk it sounds like maybe a sensor does the tach jump when you try to start it?

When a car has sat for a long time like that and not really taken care of, you might even have engine problems...But I am not saying you do..something to keep in mind if you cant find anything wrong with sensors and the all the rest of the good stuff.

Well if thats the case check if the Crank pos. sensor wire next to the runners been chewed on or any wire around the intake.
