Hey guys, i found a 96 SHO in an impound/salvage lot close to me. Since my 93 puked the tranny and now got junked. Car has been there for about2-3 years. Im looking to save this one, hopefully. I know about the cam trouble, and going to listen when he fires it up. It needs a full brake job from sitting. Anything else I need to check out, first. Have only dealt with the V6's.

if it cranks... already worth at least a grand.

If you do get it... make sure the cam is welded ASAP...

thats all I know so far

just check for warning lights. Make sure the bulbs are actually lighting before you start the car to make sure the lights were not removed. If you have access to a scanner, I would take one in case it is throwing a code. Make sure nothing smokes really bad, let it warm up well. Not sure if they let you test drive it, but do not floor it if its been sitting that long. If it warms up, shifts fine, no awkward smells, no major codes, you'll be good. They get some fresh fluids in there if she comes home with you. :thumb:

I have gotten a little history on it. The lady who had it let is sit on her street, looks like it got a flat, there is a doughnut on it. The city had it towed and she ended up coulldnt paying the storage and towing fee. Hoping to here it run this week. The guy wants to clean up his area, just getting him to get the title for it, she already gave him the keys to it. So sounds like nothing should be wrong. Yeah I have a scanner and was planning on taking it with me. Thanks.

Start it up, listen for any unusual noises. Take it for a spin if the brakes can handle a quick run around the block.

Really no guarantee though as it has been sitting for a while, lots of things could go haywire on it.

Well just got back from finding out if the car runs. Cant believe after 2 years it fired right up. NO noises from the motor, but P/S pump had minor one. Now he has to track down the owner. Think Im going to try to snag it.

We have talked price much, but only going to offer $900 for it. Body wise its ok, just two minor dents in it. Just needs brakes for sure and tires. Plus alot of TLC. Im going to see him today or tomorrow, and tell him he has till friday to find her, or Im out. Tired of messing around.
