First time using Forscan, and on a tuned 2018 PP. From reading here I’ve found you can’t use Forscan on a tuned car and have to restore to stock. Trying to check DYC’s and maybe reset the BCM.

Question: When first connecting the error message “can’t connect, if tuned enter original strategy”. Don’t have that of course so if I revert to stock, get the number, retune, enter the number will Forscan run? Or do you have to revert to stock each time you want to use Forscan?

If original strategy is entered will the program start next time or do you have redo the process each time?

Thanks in advance

If FORScan will not connect to a tuned car, restore to stock, connect and save the profile. Restore the tune and connect to the profile.

I encountered the same issue as you two years ago and I had to look up the PCM strategy code or something in the as built file for my VIN. I saved the codes since then and every once in a while Forscan won’t connect and asks for the code. You can avoid that by flashing back to stock and connecting to Forscan and saving the vehicle profile. Then it would connect just fine after it’s tuned again.

Just an FYI for anyone who doesn’t want to flash back to stock here is the way to do it. Obtain you VIN’s as built data file and open it using notepad. Search text for either one of those parameters:
PCM Hardware number: “(F111)”
PCM Part number: “(F113)”
PCM Strategy: “(F188)”

You’ll find a code that looks like a part number in three sections between (F188)GA5A-14C204-NE(/F188) for example. Copy that and keep it. You can use it to connect on Forscan if needed. That process also works with many diagnostic tools that won’t connect to the car because it’s tuned and PCM is “locked” as tuners like to say.

Finally here is where to obtain your as built data file using your VIN:
