No one in the past 14 years (as long as the V-8 SHOs have been around) has successfully crafted a turbo V-8 SHO. Some are in the works from what I hear, but no one has came out and shown pics so it is what it is. Until we see it, its a no go. Doug and I both agreed at the end of this fiasco we should have gone with a turbo or turbos, and called it a day. The turbo V-6 SHO he was finishing when I picked up mine looked amazing, :omgsho: and is not like any other turbo V-6 I've seen. Completely stock under the hood, even down to the airbox. :dribble: He stealthly ran the piping thru the stock air box and you could only notice it if you were looking for it. I wish I woulda gone turbo now, but at this day and time, money would have been an issue. I know what the V-6 one cost, and I'm not putting that much "green" into any of my vehicles for performance wise. I have a right good chump of change into my Lightning, but nowhere close to that turbo SHO.

Mine will be done, running and tuned by the middle of March.

near as I can tell after poking and prodding around the V8 Engine bay, there's no real concievable way of mounting the turbo underhood...it's gonna have to be remote mounted somewhere else.
I have seen someone put a blower on the left and right side (ArkanSHO has a blower mounted on the water pump).

So.. why couldn't a turbo fit in place of those? Is it because of the extra exhuast pipe that is needed?

well the ones I'm going to look at are tiny compared to the monsters that others use on the V6, but the advantages are they spool at low rpms. I'm also debating on if I'm going to clip them or not. Just waiting on the engine from NESHO... I got allot of modding to do when it gets here.... So don't expect an update on this for a wile...probably till after the next convention....

Yes, Carter has his set up that way, but I think what hurts that area for a turbo is the space. If the water pump was on the other side, then it would make more room for sure. I have relocated my battery and deleted my EGR, but you would have to remove other parts in that vicinity to make room. Then you have the tranny not too far from that area also. We'll wait to see what James pops up with here in March. :dribble:

I like two small twins over a single turbo low spool time and equal if not more output. I have seen an interesting mix of two small turbos driving 2 extremely large turbos on a dragster. But I dont want to know what would happen if one blew or stalled.

to make things more fun, there's not a whole lot of room to run the piping under the hood, even if you were to find a comfortable spot for the turbo. i'm thinking there may be room enough for a small snail behind the subframe where the exhaust tunnel starts.

Has the car owner ever visited here (I assume not). Got any pics or numbers? I would not imagine it would be too difficult to make the engine bay appear stock with a turbo system (as compared to SC), my question is, why would you? Is the guy planning on getting some of his investment back by street racing?! haha

You're right, I was just saying that the blower itself was set up on that side. It would impossible to run the blower off the water pump drive. And it does have the jack shaft as you said. I have the same kit sitting in my garage right now.

Yeah, I have pics of it. I can't say for sure if the owner gets on here or not. He wouldn't be posting in the V-8 section I hope tho. Most turbo kits I have seen have not looked stock by any means. As for keeping it looking stock, well, there's the "sleeper" look that Ford created and perhaps he wanted to keep it that way. And he would have to do a lot of street racing to get that money back, but he'd be a fool to even attempt that street racing crap. Go to the track, and slap down some cash.

i'm looking forward to no one knowing my 98's turbo'd until they've already had a good pounding from the beast. i'll even let em look under the hood, not that it'll do any good. the only giveaway'll be an adjustable FPR.

Lol.. if you an STS rear type turbo setup.. you would still be able to notice it when looking at the engine bay. Big silver tubes coming into the intake is a good give-a-way.

not if it's run through the airbox with the stock intake tube wrapped around it...or just sandbag and call it a cold air intake.

Nah, don't need another SHO there Sam. I'm looking to downsize to only one SHO and my wife wants a Cayenne. She's over driving her '99 SHO and I'm over her driving my 2010 SHO. :laugh_ti: I'd like to sell my big ass F-150 too and just keep my Lightning. For only her and I, we don't need 5-6 vehicles to drive. :nut:

When we finally got a house with a 3-car garage in '99, I had 4 vehicles (not counting the stored motorcycle), which went up to 5. Actually got down to 3 vehicles a few years ago. Now back up to 5!!
