depends entirely on the rest of your setup,do you already have a fuel pump and programable computer? Buying a rising rate 1:1 pressure regulator is an easy way to allow you to tune for the street.

To answer your question yes. Even if you get the shonut fpr, you will still need a vacuum/boost source for the fpr.

As has been mentioned, it depends on if you are using the stock regulator, which I can only assume you are, since you asked the question. So let me first encourage you to ditch the stock regulator and install a proper unit that will not give you the possible issues present when using a stock regulator and larger fuel pump.

On my setup, I am now using the stock regulator hose port as a boost reference.

I was thinking about making it like Sho amo , 5psi max , no tuner. I got a wideband to monitor it.

Thats for a start. Im sure im gonna make it to the next level later on.

Work the fuel properly, then boost.

When I first started out I had the stock fpr, 155 fuel pump, and the timing was set back 5 deg with the afrs in the 11s with 5 psi. My injector duty cycle was at 98%.

How can you set the timing 5 deg off when you had no tuners , at least thats what I understood back then...

I would never have run any boost without finding out where my injectors were. I definitely wasnt going to trust anyone on this forum to just tell me it was OK. So I datalogged at 3 psi where it was around 80% and 5 psi was at 98%. So thats where I stopped.

I blew the motor for sure but it didn't have anything to do with boost at the time. The turbo was completely off the car for state emissions long before it started ticking. It wouldnt even of blown if I hadent been a lazy ass and to drive it 20 miles home. It ran great while on the boost.

Then I burnt up a piston in the motor I swapped into the car after accidentally spiking 10+ psi with stock injectors still in. Swapped a piston in car and have the car driving again but it smokes at high rpm. Have most of a non-forged new shortblock built in my garage waiting to get finished.
