For those who've decided not to go Performance Package (PP):

i drove both non pp and the one i bought thought the non pp was way to soft for a performance sedan, but with what i else i drive or have driven the pp drives like a caddy
same reason wanted the coolers and the wheel never use the auto park yet

I drove multiple new Mustang GT's over 3 decades (last one being a '13 5.0 stick), don't miss the stiffer ride one bit!

I've also come to like the Driver Assist Package as well. And I've used the self parking a number of times, you'll love it.

my other ride at this time is a f250 with plow package, and the backup car is a 2005 for focus wagon with svt struts and shocks and a 1.75 drop with 17 " rims ... rides like a brick handles like its on rails

I chose the non-PP over the PP due to the creature comforts offered in the non-PP 10-12 models that weren't available in the PP model. I'm the outsider but I like the looks of the 10-12 SHO over the 13+ so those were the years I wanted. I don't know about the newer models but in 10-12 you couldn't a lot of features if you bought the PP option. Since this is primarily a long trip car and a secondary fun car, I wanted a spare tire, massaging seats, auto dimming headlights, adaptive cruise control, and the softer ride. Since my priorities were more on comfort over all out performance the non-PP was the best choice for me.

I have a 2015 non pp SHO. Basically my car will go to the track a couple times a year that's all. So no need for it really.

My salesman didn't tell me about or show me any PP cars. All of the SHOs his dealership were receiving were non PPs. Some had the massaging seats, auto park and the adaptive cruise control. Mine did not. Had I known about the PP cars I would have pushed him to find me one. I got the car before the end of June, 2015 and Ford was offering incredible deals on them, so I couldn't pass it up. I was mad that my car didn't get the flower wheels because they are described in the 2015 Taurus brochure as SHO specific and standard equipment on them. The non flower wheels were supposed to be the option.
Late 2015 non PP SHOs came with the flower wheels standard. I wonder if Chicago had a run on non PPs and had to get rid of them so they just built them as they saw fit. A friend of mine picked up his SHO about the same time as I did, and his came with the massaging seats, adaptive cruise control and self parking feature. His also has the non flower wheels.

Ok, well I am confused... I was under the impression that I have a non-PP SHO. But after looking at YouTube vids on SHO's and RS', I stumbled on an AdvanceTrac vid about "Sport" mode. I decided to try the double-press on TCS button and the "AdvanceTrac Sport Mode Enabled" popped up. I bought the car used (from a Toyota dealer with a good deal and even better trade-in...) but the car came with "19's and no suede. I will try to disable altogether to see if that works, but "Sport" mode shouldn't come up at all if it wasn't a non PP SHO, right?

Coming from a Subaru, which I felt I knew a lot about, this Taurus almost seems foreign to me.

If you do not have a window sticker, go to http://www.etis.ford.com and look up your VIN. If the Axle Ratio is listed as 3.16, your SHO has the PP, plain & simple.

Interesting! Sure your SHO does not have the PP? Errors do happen in production sometimes, would be nice to get a benefit for a change!

Yeah, I checked that site SHOdded linked. Looks like I did get a 2010 with the PP... No comlaints here. Sticker from the dealer does not mention it all. I'm actually more surprised how much of a grip difference it makes.

Just to make sure everyone is on the same page, the PP cars have the ability to disable the AdvanceTrac as SHOdded and LowerLevel described. ALL 2013+ Taurus and MKS models have a "sport" mode for the transmission. That has nothing to do with disabling the AdvanceTrac. It does alter the shift points, shift pressure and throttle mapping. On Lincolns, it also adjusts the dampers. It also activates the paddle shifters.

Traction Control is a different part of the system than Stability Control. Yes, you can turn off the traction control on a non PP but not Stability Control. Living in Minnesota and playing around in the snow, I will share what happens. Going STRAIGHT on snow or ice, with traction control off, I can spin the tires like crazy. However, if I attempt to TURN while spinning the tires, like trying to power slide around a corner, the AdvanceTrac portion of the system kicks in and applies brakes and cuts power - even with traction control off.
