I was just curious as what what wattage the stock fog lights are on the Gen II SHO's....I have searched the forum and cant find anything about wattage.
I wanted to get some good ones that light something up...and want to make sure I get ones that are brighter and do light something up.

Thanks.

LOUDSHO92:
I htink that the bulbs are a standard 55watts.
Thanks for the info...I thought thats what they were. But my question is, when looking for brighter fog lights, I found some HID's that are 55 watts...would these be any brighter (cause of clear lenses or the HID part) or should I go to something like 80 watt bulbs....or up to 100 watt bulbs?

Thanks for any input! :D

Well, if they are HID's then they are only 35 watts.

Now for the 80, or 100 watt lights, are you looking at just bulbs to replace the stock ones? Because I wouldn't go too high, or you will melt your sockets. I would just replace the whole fog light, the stock ones just suck, no matter how bright of a bulb you put in there. Besides, you can pick up some "Blazer" driving lights off ebay or even at walmart for like 30-50 bucks. They are a HUGE upgrade.

If you put that 55 watt bulb in, chances are you're going to burn out the multifunction switch. Don't ask me how I know this oh_my

HIDs are only 35 watts, but that doesn't mean they put out less light, by a long shot.
The 35 watt HIDs put out 4 times the light of an 89 watt halogen, so you get MORE light with a lighter watt consumption and less heat. Also, the HID has no filament to break and last much much longer.
Until you get HID driving lights, you will not know what great lighting really is. I have Eagle rectangular driving lights by JF manufacturing. They fit the SHO like stock and are super well made. They have a horizontal beam like fog lights, but are clear and throw a beam forward 4 times the distance of any halogen.
Even at 110 mph, I no longer feel like I am driving too fast for the view provided by my lights. But the aren't cheap

If I were you, and didn't have a whole lot of money to spend, I would get these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2401840440&category=33709 .
They probably cost about the same as new bulbs, and are about 20 times better then putting new bulbs into your stock housings.

But Dave is right. Nothing can compare to true HID. I have seen his lights in person, and that is why I'm getting HID's as well.

Are these the lights your talking about?
HID fog lights

Or are these any good?
The ones I got suck, and the one is cracked and the light in it went out....so I am just going to replace the whole deal....

If anyone has any good new ones and would like to share with me where I can get them...let me know...I dont mind spending a few bucks on them ($50-$70)...but I also want a good deal.

Thanks to everyone....

has anyone else had problems with the multifunction switch while running 55watt or higher bulbs on the fogs? I've got pilots with 55watt bulbs and my mfs crapped out reciently, about a year after installing the new fogs. I'm looking at 100watt h3 bulbs now, haha, kind of scared though cause i'm using the stock wiring and switch. Any thoughts?

You definately do not want to run those on the stock wiring. You can use the stock fog light switch to switch a relay, then use some good wiring to go to your new lights. That way your pulling all your juice directly from the battery, and not through the stock wiring. Thats how i have mine wired.

Run them with a relayed set-up, and you should be ok.
