The fog lamps should be mounted to the brackets by two small screws. Remove the screws, and remove the lights.

I think that "funky thing" you are referring to are the threaded pieces of metal that the screws thread into. Unless they are really corroded, they should not provide a problem.

Are these the things you are talking about?

If there is a lot of corrosion, try soaking everything in some sort of penetrant oil overnight, then attempt to remove the mounting screws. thumb

the screws go into the the bracket then when they come out at the end there is this thing on the screw when it comes out and then it goes into a hole in the bracket so when u turn the screw the metal piece(thing) hits on the side of the hole so the screw wont turn. thats the best i can explain it. I will try to soak it in penetrant oil. what ever that is? i will make a stop over at home depo.

not a very good picture, but take a look at this pic from my installation how-to:

Is the small clip that you can can see just in front of the pliers the item you are talking about?

If it is, then all you have to do is remove the screw. That clip does not have to be removed to remove the screw of the fog lamp from the bracket.

It can be tough. I have a very rust free california car and even I had a bit of corrosion to deal with. I found that the hardest part about the install was removing the screws without stripping them.
Penitrant oil can be found at any auto store.

ok i got the penatrant spray at car quest i sprayed the clamp and the screw for a good 2 hours... tried to turn the screw didnt go. So i took a power drill to it and striped the screws. So i just drilled the screw out. Now i have to work from there on drilling new holes for the new fog lights.

Hey, no sweat about anything. I dont take much of anything personal. Life is too short to worry about things as such :D

It sounds like those screws were pretty corroded into the clips. But it also sounds like you have it figured out.

if you need further help, just let me know thumb
