fog light replacement

does anyone know if the bulb that needs replacement , the fog lights, are halogen and in fact are the kind in which are not intended to be touched and if they are touched, will blow up

Considering I work in a household lighting store... as a rule halogen bulbs can not be touched. There are excpetions but they are not to common. I'll double check tommorrow with my boss to see what allows a halogen bulb to be touchable. You shoudn't have to touch it though, just wrap a piece of plastic aroud it.

If you look carefully at a hologen bulb, you will notice either of the two following things.

1) glass bulb and filament inside (common for most hologen bulbs, ex the long and skinney 78mm's)

2) a small glass bulb and filament inside, all in a larger bulb. (not so common, but most twist in hologens will have that, ex JDE, GU10, and mr16 style bulbs.

Obviously the halogens within a bulb, can be touched.
