Okay I now have my fog lights and I need to wire them up and I don't want to use the supplied switch, I want the lights to be turned on when I turn the factory switch on..... so here is what I understand.

I have two leads running to the battery terminals, A relay, an in line fuse, wires to the lamps themselves, and wires that go to the supplied switch. Since I am not using the switch I just won't plug it up,(it has a small connector). It says "using the supplied connector, connect the switch power wire to power source" The kit has a"one touch wire splice", I assume is for tapping into a power source.
I have been told that the parking lamp wire is brown, so should I tap into this wire, and where is a good location for this power tapping?

What factory wiring? Dude we're talking about a GenIII here.

I think I know what to do now, I need to find a factory wiring diagram and then figure out what the best place to tap power from the parking lamps is.

Well, I am thinking just tap power from the headlight switch.

Anyone have a wiring diagram??? I looked at V8SHO but didn't see any diagrams.

I found this post by Mr. Nimz...

Do not wire these to any existing circuit without a relay. You will burn the wiring or a switch up. A relay is cheap and easy to use.

Connect terminal 30 of the relay to the battery through a fuse big enough to handle the fog lights.

Connect the hot wire going to the fog lights to terminal 87 on the relay.

Connect terminal 85 on the relay to ground.

Connect terminal 86 to the parking light hot wire. This can be done under the hood and does not need to be done at the headlight switch.

This way when the parking lights come on the fog lights will come on. All the heavy current will be going though the relay from the battery and the parking light circuit will only be carrying an addition amp.

Hope this helps. :)

Hey David that helps, the lights came with a complete harness which includes a relay. I know that I want to tap into the brown wire from the parking lamps but how do you get to it? I have the lights mounted in the lower front and have removed the plastic panel under the front of the car, I also removed the battery and tray.
I see the back of the parking lamps and I see the brown wire but can someone tell me how to get to the wire?
How do you even change the bulbs in the parking lamps????

If you're planning on tapping into the electrical in the cabin, you can pull the entire switch assembly out and hitch in to the parking light wire there.
If you just want to keep it in the engine compartment, just tap into the wires directly at the parking lamps.
As for how to get to them, you need to remove the three short bolts and loosen the one long one which hold the headlamp assembly in place. After doing this, the headlamp assembly will slide out toward the front of the car. Unplug the headlight connector and place the assembly in a safe place. At this point, you can access the backside of the parking lamp assemblies. They are still not easy to get to at this point, but you can unplug the connector and pull it far enough out to get to the wiring you need.

I have a standalone switch with mine that becomes active when the parking lights are on. In hindsight, I think I would get a switch from an F-150 or something that has the foglight switch integrated into the headlight **** and retrofit it for my foglights. I did that on my F-150 so that the foglights could be turned on using the factory switch but when the parking lights were on (the factory setup is that the foglights can only be activated when the headlights are on- dumb crap!)
Good luck!

Thanks for the help, I've got it all hooked up now and all I have left to do is replace the plastic panel under the car and the air dam. Once I got the headlight out, it was pretty easy from there. I wrapped everything in some plastic wire loom so all the wires are hidden and protected as well.

The Expedition that I have has factory fogs and I was thinking the same thing about swapping out the switch, only thing is, the fog lights turn off when the high beams are activated, and I don't like that feature. The way the fogs are wired in the SHO at least they turn on when the headlight switch is turned on and stay on even with the high beams on.
Thanks again for all the help. :thumb:

By far the easiest way to do this is under the hood. Use an in line fuse ~15 A and tap into the mega fuse post closest to the engine for power to the relay for the fog lamps. Ground the relay at the ground point near the air box on the fender. Tap into the brown wire on the drivers side parking light. I found a large pair of needle nose pliers worked good at twisting the socket out.

This is how I have mine but there are times I wish I had a switch to turn them off. And in some states it is illegal to have aux lights on with the high beams.

So using a switch inside I would tap off the headlight switch DB/W (dark blue and white) wire which is for the instrument panel lights. Run this wire to the switch and then to the relay as the trigger wire.

No. There are no electrical contacts for the fog light switch. The mechanical components are there, but no electrical. You can swap the switch from a Ford truck w/ autolamps as they had the electrical contacts in the switch.
