Well after 2000 dollars of repairs, we get the car back to find out the fog lamps didnt work. They are closed now, but I discovered that the dash had obviously been removed, and I think when he removed the dash, thats where something went wrong... Maybe somethings loose?

When we hit the fog lamp button, the little orange light doesnt come on, so I think something isnt connected correctly.

Any advice on what might have happened.

don't quote me on this... but i believe that me and MiltownSHO (jason) had issues with that and finding a fuse.... i don't remember but i think there is an inline glass tube fuse somwhere under the driver kick pannel.... by your knees under the steering wheel.... maybe someone else will chime in and help out.

The mechanic took the dash off, like right around the *** lamp button and around there, so is it possible a wire(s) that connect to the button arent connected to the button.. He may have forgot to connect them when he put the dash back on...

There is a connector that hooks up to the back of the button, fairly easy to get to... if it didn't get connected, that would cause your problem.

if the orange light is coming on ok that most likely means that the plug is connected fine. Now go under the steering wheel where the fuse box is and find the fog lamp fuse. It is a totally seperate fuse with a blue 15amp color. It will be connected to 2 wires. That fuse most likey blew.

He is saying that the light doesn't come on... To take the dash apart, you need to snap the headlamp switch off (with a screwdirver). If you have a Gen1, there will be a little nut under the headlamp switch that you will need to unscrew. I don't think there is one on the Gen2's. Take the 4 hex screws from under the steering wheel off (I think they are 30) from the metal guard. Then pop the 2 hex screws right above the instrument panel off (12) as well as the two that are under the steering column (after you take off the metal guard. These are 12's also). Then take a flathead screwdriver, and slowly and CAREFULLY pop the dash off. Make sure you don't break any of the plastic tabs. I think thats it, so good luck! If there is anything that I'm missing, someone please chime in

You shouldn't have to take the dash all the way off, just angle it at the bottom to see if it is connected to the fog lamp switch. Just have to be gentle with it, as everything will still be connected (well, with the exception of the fog lamp maybe... )

Well, he will IF the foglight isn't plugged in... he will need to at least pry the dash where the switch is pretty far to stick his hand so he can reach the plug.

Snap the headlamp switch off?

Without dis-asembling anything, all I see is 4 screws, two near the steering wheel, and two at the bottom by the pedals. Can I just take that off and still be able to reach it?

Instrument Finish Panel Removal

These are good instructions. Follow them. First, just grab and pull the plastic head lamp switch straight off. Use a screwdriver to help you pry it if necessary. Second, take off the metal shroud that is underneath the steering column (4 hex screws). When it is removed, you will be able to see more clearly 2 more smaller hex screws located near the steering column on either side. Remove them. Then remove the 2 vertical hex screws that are located just above the clear plastic window that covers the gauges. Finally, carefully pull the instrument finish panel straight back, it is now only being held on by plastic tabs. As mentioned, you may have to use a screwdriver to help you pry it back. Just pull it off enough to peek in and see if the fog lamp switch is disconnected, and then you can go from there.

Dude, just take a butter knife and pry gently underneath the fog lamp switch at the top or bottom of it. It will pop right out.

Well, the butter knife method does work too... but you have to be REALLY careful, because you can scratch the dash paint if it slips. Plus, if it really is unplugged, you will probably need to take the dash apart to get it plugged back in anyway.

lol, but they did work before we took it in.

If i did get another sho i would have gotten a 5 speed, but I got reminded yesterday of the type of traffic around here, and after that, I blessed my auto transaxle.

Are they the stock foglamps? Cause if they are, replace your headlamps with PIAA's or some Silverstars (thats what I have, cheap, and they work great). The stock foglamps on the car suck, unless they are aftermarket. And just keep your foglights off, that will solve your problem too... Just keep the button there for the people who are like "OO, your taurus has foglights!"
