Long time lurker, first post. I recently lost my beloved 06 GTO to flood damage (was 1 of only 101 exactly like it ever made) and picked up a mint, one owner 2010 MKS Ecoboost with under 100k miles in pristine condition in and out last week. I know, I know it's not a SHO but there in lies my initial question. Can any of you direct me to a MKS/Ecoboost forum that's remotely alive and active? I'm a lifetime gearhead that does almost all the work on all of our vehicles and I've scoured the internet for such a forum and I can't find one. I made a membership here because the motor's the same between the 2 platforms except the BHP is 10 less in the 2010 Lincolns vs. the SHO of the same year. So this site is a great resource for information on that subject, I'd just like to find one for the MKS that will cover the rest of my car. I'm a super mod on 2 other car sites and member of 4 and they have been instrumental in educating me on a ton of stuff car related that would have been hard to find otherwise.

Can anyone comment on other differences between the 2, I know it's built on the same platform but have no idea what the differences are on things like brakes, suspension etc. I know it's a shot in the dark but any help would be appreciated. The MKS Ecoboost package has a sportier suspension set-up that the regular model but I'm unclear on exactly what parts might need to be replaced when it's time to do maintenance. Looking up parts on sites like Rockauto there's often no designation between regular and Ecoboost models on things I know there is a difference.
Anyway I'm glad to be here in whatever capacity that looks like and really excited about the car's future. I've already installed an Airaid and am waiting on a SCT tune but those with a 3 bar, thermostat and plugs will likely be my only mods. I went down that rabbit hole several years ago with an Infiniti and because of that journey my GTO was bone stock the 4 years I owned it. Was it hard to leave it alone, yes, but that feeling got less intense as time went by. :D

Ecoboost Performance is a good forum. I know there are a few folks from here that frequent that site as well (myself included.)

Welcome!

Welcome, I had a ‘14 MKS. In Sport mode the car felt just about the same as my SHO. The power and feel of the SHO however, a bit more raw and aggressive. I do miss the adjustable suspension though. Sometimes it’s nice to just put it in “comfort” and float.

And yes, SM105K has a very thorough maintenance plan for fluid changes, well worth reading.

On a continuous basis sure, but on a older car with unknown history and miles, I think the change and flush everything approach is the best idea for future longevity. I drive mine pretty hard but it’s also my DD so I like your kool aid.

Honestly, for how cheap fluids are and if you can do the work yourself you are correct. My oil and trans cycling (5 out , 5 in) happen every oil change. 75-85 bucks every oil change is well worth it, even if it was my daily still.

Thanks for the replies all. I tried to register at Ecoboost Performance earlier and got an error message that "registration is currently disabled". Guess I'll try another time, I did poke through it a bit and it looks fairly active. SM105K, ironically enough I've seen your video on the chair leg cap mod, I ran across it when I was doing research on the MKS Eco after I decided that or an SHO would replace the GTO. Good stuff, do you really think it adds any HP? Your maintenance thread is off the chart awesome, especially for a new owner like me.

Thanks for the kinda word. There are many newer owners coming along and we get the same questions. Shodded and I started thinking what if......we could refer new owners to the a good info source....and my thread morphed. I am a gearhead through and through so it is fun to see what mods do what.

To answer your question, the BOV to atmosphere doesn't add HP. It just makes a turbo car, sound like a turbo car. Best bang for your buck is tune, best handling mod for your buck are H&R springs, and best exterior mod for your buck is window tint.

I thought there was a quick discussion in your video about HP gain, I'll go back and re-watch to make sure I'm not losing my mind. I just bought a SCT X4 from Unleashed that was gently used with their pre-loaded tunes, 2 custom tunes for my car already loaded and 3 additional custom tunes that I will pick out. Big thank you to Leslie over at Unleashed for his awesome service. We e-mailed back and forth until 9:30 Texas time and he was informative, friendly and patient. I've read a lot on their great customer service and experienced it today. Made me feel good to converse with someone who gives a damn about what they do. Also bought 6 SP542 plugs from Rockauto on the cheap. Going to be fun next week when it all arrives and I get to play with my new toys.....

And I just watched the video again, at 2:28 the HP discussion happened. My memory might not be as bad as I think it is...…..yet.

Quick update. I ended up getting a SCT X4 and 3 custom tunes from Unleashed Tuning, 93 performance, 93 mpg and 89 performance I also changed the plugs to the SP542's, I had previously added an Airaid intake as well. Flashed the 93 performance and damn, the car flies. It feels as fast as the stock GTO but cruises in Lincoln luxury. Big thanks to Leslie and Torrie at Unleashed, the service and quality of the tunes are outstanding.

Love Torrie. He was always helpful when I was looking for hard to find older model SHO parts back when he was running an online OEM Ford parts biz.
