Long time lurker, first post. I recently lost my beloved 06 GTO to flood damage (was 1 of only 101 exactly like it ever made) and picked up a mint, one owner 2010 MKS Ecoboost with under 100k miles in pristine condition in and out last week. I know, I know it's not a SHO but there in lies my initial question. Can any of you direct me to a MKS/Ecoboost forum that's remotely alive and active? I'm a lifetime gearhead that does almost all the work on all of our vehicles and I've scoured the internet for such a forum and I can't find one. I made a membership here because the motor's the same between the 2 platforms except the BHP is 10 less in the 2010 Lincolns vs. the SHO of the same year. So this site is a great resource for information on that subject, I'd just like to find one for the MKS that will cover the rest of my car. I'm a super mod on 2 other car sites and member of 4 and they have been instrumental in educating me on a ton of stuff car related that would have been hard to find otherwise.
Can anyone comment on other differences between the 2, I know it's built on the same platform but have no idea what the differences are on things like brakes, suspension etc. I know it's a shot in the dark but any help would be appreciated. The MKS Ecoboost package has a sportier suspension set-up that the regular model but I'm unclear on exactly what parts might need to be replaced when it's time to do maintenance. Looking up parts on sites like Rockauto there's often no designation between regular and Ecoboost models on things I know there is a difference.
Anyway I'm glad to be here in whatever capacity that looks like and really excited about the car's future. I've already installed an Airaid and am waiting on a SCT tune but those with a 3 bar, thermostat and plugs will likely be my only mods. I went down that rabbit hole several years ago with an Infiniti and because of that journey my GTO was bone stock the 4 years I owned it. Was it hard to leave it alone, yes, but that feeling got less intense as time went by.
