from what i understand the 07 spot is open, and the way
they make a decision is some peeps need to make a serious written
proposal! to Don,you know who im talking about.
now unless you guys want it to end up in some BFE town like Omaha...LOL

i say we pull some data togeather get some, hotel numbers, track prices
attractions, then fill it up with all the stuff that makes Florida great!
if we all set here hoping and wishing its never gonna happen!
Florida's a great state, with SOOOOO much to do especially if your not from
around here!now i know the nay-sayers are all gonna wimper about how
hot it is down here in the summer, but you all know its just as hot in
new york as it is here last convention in this area was Atlanta 99
come 07 that will be 8 years, common guys and gals lets do this
i really want this in our back yards!!

OK, let's shoot for '08. :p Seriously, I don't know why FL wouldn't be on the list for the near future... they've been to some cities twice (atl and indy). And I don't wanna hear about how it's sooooooo hot here... most of us gen1'ers know how it is without AC! And it was hot as crap at Madison in '03 and in Maryland in '02. Heck, when we were at the track at the Madison convention I got so hot I had to lie down in the back seat of someone's car for about 30 minutes with the AC on full blast... it's definitely no worse here.

08 is Seattle, that has been decided...now theres a big push for a convention
in the North East but i say if we get on it we can convence them otherwise!

i dont know why they did it like that but what from what i read
08 is decided!

Good luck. Theres ALOT of us screaming for the northeast, including yours truly. :p

I agree that theres alot to do in FLA. I personally love it there, but it is DEAD and HOT as **** in the summertime.. Besides, the I-95 is a fun trip north.

I won't argue with having a NE convention... I've been there many times and once you weed out the rude people (people down south are MUCH kinder), it's a pretty nice place. :) Oh, and the annoying accent thing... :p
Seriously though, you guys deserve a convention on your turf. I think it would make for a huge turnout too because of the sheer concentration of SHO's in that part of the country.
We'll get it one day. As far as petitioning goes though... consider how many ACTIVE FSHOC'ers there are versus guys from NESHOC and elsewhere!?

Its a lost cause with all the uneducated who believe Florida is sooo hot and has sooo many hurricanes. Its sooo unbearable, but how come it is one of the fastest growing states and so many people are moving here. We can petition all we want and I will help, but I am over the idea of a convention down here anytime soon.

In all honesty, I would just rather have our monthly meets and attend a convention elsewhere instead of getting all worked up over it again.

Annoying accent??... And as far as people being rude? Thats a myth. Everyones different, just like down there and anywhere else.

Ive been to So. Florida in the summer, and I know it doesent take much education to know that its hot as ****. Not so bad on the coast, but inland its pretty bad. I know the temperature is not all that different. Its the humidity Im refering to.

But I know where your coming from though... When Im there in the winter, and its 70-75 deg. Im in a T-shirt and shorts, and all the locals are wearing sweatshirts and jeans. You guys are just used to it.

If you guys are serious about a convention then you need to actually show up to a convention or two. Have a bunch of people come out. Show Don that you have a committed group.

That's the problem with the Canadian contingency. It's the same two or three Canadians who actually SHOw up. The rest of them are all gung-** about going but then can't find the time or money to do so.

And BTW, Seattle is scheduled for 2008 not 2007.

I say we have a split convention.

Southern convention and a Northern.

We have a contest to see who has the most SHO's!!!!!

Just my 2 cents. I hate going up north also, to many strange ppl. All you Floridians, dont tell the northern folks its not hot here in the summer, cause before you know it, it will be filled with Damn Yankee's!!!

Y'all know the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee????

A Damn Yabkee comes with a U-Haul!!!!

Ummm... I've been to a few of them, one of them I made a 2500 mile round trip for. Pointing fingers isn't very nice... sorry you're so frustrated that Don doesn't wanna go to Canada yet.

Mr. Nosex #2, aka Roy, is originally from the north, so don't let him give us a bad name. Anyone born and raised here is NOT that rude, I assure you. ;)
I was joking about you guys not being nice though... there are plenty of nice people there. I was just referring to the whole southern hospitality thing ya know. :)

I did 2800 miles one way to California last year and about 1700 return this year. Doesn't make a difference because I was one of five Canadian cars.

And I'm not really frustrated. Don actually does want to come to Canada. Our local club just has to get some initiative and find a hotel and get some agreements with the tracks.

Good to know.

ANYWAY, Roy, considering what part of town you were in, I'm not sure if I should feel sorry for you or congratulate you.
