I'm researching the 2010-11 SHOs for my next purchase.

I've seen the taillight trim peeling is a well known problem. I like the plastidip idea for a fix. Has Ford corrected the issue on newer replacement trim pieces? I see some owners are on their 3rd set of parts, but understand the TSB is only good up to 36k miles.

I was wondering if anyone has clearcoated the chrome trim, and if y'all thought it'd help protect the "chome" from the problems everyone's had.

Does anyone know how to get this painted the same color as the car, or have the dealer fix it when its out of warranty?

I am out of warranty and the dealer is telling me that I will have to pay for the entire tail light if I want to fix the flaking. ARE YOU KIDDING??

3rd RH inner coming up for me. 42K on the car, and I asked for regular Taurus non chrome trim lights prior to replacing them all for the 2nd time.

If plasti-dip will prevent the peeling, I'll go for that after this one gets replaced.

I plasti-dipped mine in October. Gone through most of a winter and probably a dozen car washes. No flaking or peeling yet and the look is awesome.

Ford has NOT fixed the problem.

They are still using the same vendor as they have from the onset.

Clear coating the faux chrome won't do jack **** to prevent the material from peeling.

It entirely has to do with the plastic base not being prepped correctly in order to "receive" the chrome overlay properly.

Adhesion is adhesion, and if you don't have it from the very get go, you can put as much crap over the top of it, it still won't help matters long term.
