I have had a bad misfire on the 91 for several weeks. It sounded like a 5 cylinder and could hardly take off from a stop. It turned to be both an electrical and a vacuum problem.
I checked each of the plug wires with the timing light and they all were getting sporadic spark. I decide to replace the coil pack since it was easy and I have a spare. I was getting ready to remove the coil pack when I noticed the metal strips underneath each mounting screw. I guessed they might be a ground path, and the bolts were loose. Once I tightened them, the engine started running much better, but still not perfect.
I pulled the intake manifold to check the back plugs, and when I was putting it back on, I had to adjust the side brackets. They were mounted too high and lifting the manifold off the heads a little causing a vacuum leak.
I can't believe how much better it runs, I was so close to having a sho bonfire.
