SCT X4, Unleashed 93 octane tune, 3 bar MAP, 170* tstat.

I'm an old carb guy so this is my first venture into the tuning world. Did the install this morning and I swear, you'll never be able to pry this smile from my face! This car is no longer feels like a land yacht! Hahahaha!!!
And to know that there is still plenty on the table to be tapped? OMG.....

Sorry for the ignorance, but is this tuner any better/different than Livernois tuner? Thank you

I would say it's the same. Some will favor one or the other for their own reasons. However, it's pretty much accepted that Livernois and Unleashed are about the same in terms of results. The biggest difference is Livernois provides a tune that you load and that's what you get. Unleashed provides a tune that you datalog to maximize the output.

There is so much more.... but yes... load and play is LMS... load, datalog, reload, rinse and repeat is unleashed...

Depends on how much effort you want to put in...

Unleashed might net you slightly better ET...

I suggest pinging AJPTurbo at EBPF.... much more detailed in the tuning than unleashed...

So I’m assuming dataloging will show you where gains can be found over time. Is this then something that is automated, or has to be manually entered to gain more power? How to do you know where to set limitations without potentially damaging vehicle? Thank you

If you get smart on reading the datalogs you can see where things are changed... spark and boost increases etc...

Datalogs show you a small snippet of what the tuner is doing... not the whole picture by far...

You are at the hands of your turner to make sure they don’t damage your SHO...

Thanks for the info! Personally since I will likely not Want to get too involved, I will steer towards the preloaded tunes. Also, do you have catchcan installed?

No catch can for me... although I have been considering one.... I know my current PCV system isn't exactly running at 100%...

Datalogging sounds more intimidating that it is. It allows the tuner to maximize the adjustments on the vehicle to maximize the power.

After you have the tune loaded on the car you get the datalog file from Torrie at Unleashed (only using him as example because he was in the OP), you then go to a location where you can do a 0-80ish WOT pull, hook up a laptop (or you might be able to use the tuner), click start recording, do a pull through the first couple gears (I used an interstate on ramp where I could stop before getting on), click stop recording, and then email that file to Torrie. That's all you do. There's no looking at data required or adjusting anything. You're simply recording the data and sending it to the tuner. After Torrie makes the changes he will send you a new tune or tell you he's taken the tune as far as he safely can.

Lots of good info in the above posts. I have experience with Livernois plug & play tunes as well as AJP Turbo's tunes which use the SCT device and datalogging. With datalogging, you can learn a lot more about your car if you are able to read and interpret the logs. My understanding is that Torrie is a man of few words and likely will not discuss the logs with you or even tell you what changes he makes based on the logs. AJP Turbo is quite willing to discuss the logs and help you learn, as well as explain what he sees, why he is making a change and what to expect.

The only things I do not particularly like about datalogging are the potential of speeding tickets or worse when doing the WOT pulls and the additional wear/tear on the car by doing them.

Livernois has had a ton of experience with the ecoboost platform and their plug & play tunes make a world of difference. I was extremely happy with their tunes for my ecoboost Lincoln MKS. Unless you are trying to scratch out the last tidbit of performance at the track, you can't go wrong with them...especially if you really don't want to get very involved in the process.

We are a very reputable company when it omes to the ecoboost platform and have actually built the fastest SHO to date and have tons of experience with the vehicle and it is one of the most common vehicles we work on and we constantly work on improving our tunes even more!

Has development on the 2010-2012 been halted on the remote tunes? There has not been anything new for quite awhile. There HAS been a newer revision sent out for the 2013+.

As we see room for improvement on each vehicle we will make the changes an apply them to a newer version of our tune, as of yet not much has changed for 10-12 but the more we have here and have hands on the more likely it is we can improve if needed

Livernois has MUCH more experience tuning the ecoboost engine in the MKS than they do with the 3.0 in your MKZ. Stock for stock the Z will be a bit quicker. Part of the reason is that your MKS has a 2.77 gear vs. 3.16 in the MKZ. However, if both were tuned by Livernois, I would put my money on the MKS.
