OP what tires and brakes were you running?

IDK for sure, but the pictures almost look like the same setup I am running. The wheels are 17x8, prolly shod in 235/45 rubber(almost look like RS3 or Z1ss), and 13" cobra brakes.

Edit: Tim, I'm not stalking you build, it just seems about the same as I would have done/already did..... ;)

Paul, you are very close. 17x8 wheels with 235/45 Hankook RS3's. 11.6 Cobra Brakes with just cheapy rotors and Hawk HP+ pads.

The pads are a little more than 1/3 worn, the rotors showed a little bit of cracking on the surface (couldn't feel it with my fingernail yet, but warrantied, FTW). The tires were worn on the outsides quite a bit on the front, I will have to dial in the street/track trade off on the alignment. I should get at least 3 more weekends of track time in on them (by rotating and flipping them on the rims)!

I really was quite satisfied with the performance of the tires and the brakes. I still don't think I used the brakes to their potential, but I definitely made the tires talk quite a bit. I don't think you can beat those tires for the price though.

Dang, Missed it by that much........:naughty: So, was I the only one dumb enough to do 245/45's in star spec flavor? And I get the same wear on the insides you're describing......I haven't figured out if its the -1.5* I had it set to, if its just the width causing it, or if there is a slight toe out.

On the inside? Tim was getting wear on the outside, which is typical for tracking on street tires and less than -2.0 camber.

If you are getting inside wear, it has to be the toe. Unless running those wide tires on narrow (8", narrow for 245) rims contribute to it.

Idk yet, I only have about 400mi since the GC's were installed and the alignment done at this point. I haven't really had the outside wear problems, even with autoxing it before I had camber adjustment. I know the road course is a bit harder on them, but I'd expect some similarities between the two.

You will get wear on the insides if you are just street driving them with 1.5 deg or so of camber. But if you have inside wear at the track, your toe in is waaaay off.

I was running the same tires and they worked great......for street legal tires. I had run StarSpecs before in a 225. They worked well, but not as good as the Hankook's.

I keep thinking I am gonna upgrade to the Cobra brakes, but my '96 upgrades with Carbotech's provide more stopping power than I need and the $$ is good. Just wish the peddle feel was better.
