I just wanted to make a quick post about my first time on the track.

I went to Gingerman with Auto Interests this weekend and had an amazing time. The car performed flawlessly (thanks to somedude_01). I was there with some amazing SHO people (sorry that Ken and Chris had to leave early though!) and had a lot of fun.

I was quite encouraged when all of the instructors that rode with me couldn't believe it was my first time out on a track. Obviously I have much to learn, but every single one (I had 4 different ones) said I was doing great!

One of the instructors was a bimmer driver and he couldn't believe how well the car handled! He had even told one of his bimmer friends about the car, so I had a bimmer guy come up to me and tell me my car had quite a reputation! Awesome!

Next time I will bring warmer clothes and more blankets for sleeping in the tent (it was 35 degrees the first night!!!), and some sort of sun hat (my face and neck got sunburned).

And here are a few of my favorite pictures...

It was great weekend. There was a huge difference in your driving at the end of the weekend. You seem to have just enough "Crazy" to drive the car like you should!!!:naughty:

A little Gen1 vs Gen2 rivalry.......

Great driving to catch and pass all the high hp cars repeatedly. That BOSS is over $40K and has twice your HP and TQ. Feels good, doesn't it?

I scored free tickets to the Indy 500 last Monday......so that killed even going up there to hang out. :(

Yeah, I know its a big event......500 miles of left hand turns just isn't my thing. I would have sold them and bought more track time. But that's just me.

You did do very well for your first time out Tim. Glad you came. I should have taken the opportunity to ridden in both your car and Jeremy's. There is always next time!

I need to have Andrea upload the pics from the camera when she goes to work tomorrow.

You may not want to catch a ride with me.....I have a bad habit of spinning out whenever I have a passanger in the car. I was 3 for 3 on Saturday. 3 passangers and 3 spins.:bonk:

That's what one of the instructors said when I told him it was my first time on the track, "I don't know if you are just good at ready your car, or if you are insane and I should take you off the track!" Lol. That was the bimmer driver that told his buddies about how well my taurus handled!

I like your wheels......:naughty: let me know if you ever sell them, I want to collect ALL THE OZ's in time.

As long as I drive on a track, I will own these wheels. They did incredible!

Should have come up. Good time had by all!!

I have some nice heavy 17x8" wheels ...... :naughty:

Thanks for the compliment! Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye and thanks (I ate some of your eggs). I felt like I did pretty good for the first time out, and had enough compliments to think that I may have been noticed. That's always a good feeling!

I never completely spun, or ever had 4 wheels off. I was 2-3 wheels off a few times, and was sideways at about 85 on turn 9 (clockwise). Maybe I wasn't pushing it quite hard enough. I think a little more power would have helped, that or maybe downshifting to 2nd coming out of some corners.

Turn 9 was touchy. If you didn't hug the right coming out of 8 you'd not be positioned to bend 9 w/o loosing it. I was with my first instructor when I slid sideways about 100 feet through 9. Then as I was getting the track figured out after lunch, zing goes a rod bearing. Game Over!

Glad you had a good time. Gingerman is a really fun truck and a good one to learn on.

Nice! I was there as well! It was also my first time.

Most of it isn't about the race, it's about giant party that the city turns into that whole weekend. I'm not big into roundy round racing either, but I had one of the best weekends ever! The partying is so big that most of the people don't actually go to the race LOL. The race itself was still spectacular to watch though. To hear and see cars cornering around 200mph on a relatively flat track is pretty impressive IMO. I def recommend going at least once in your life and make sure to reserve the whole weekend for it. I know I'll be going back for sure.

You need to bring your Mustang out sometime. There were quite a few out this weekend (along with some BOSS 302's), but most were in the novice class and were not being driven to their potential. I would love to see what one could do in the hands of an experienced driver.

Yes. I almost got sick of passing mustangs. But not really, I liked not being the slowest guy on the track, even if I had the slowest car on the track!

Yea, we'll see. I might be doing the 3 Balls Gingerman Event at the end of June, but not 100% sure yet. (I also run slicks on track BTW)

Ha that's funny.. I was in south haven Sunday (26) and was going to stop for a few to watch, but 20 bucks for 2 people to watch for about a half hour wasn't worth it to me (couldn't stay longer then that).

Should have let us know. Each participant gets 1 free spectator. We could have got you in for free.

IDK for sure, but the pictures almost look like the same setup I am running. The wheels are 17x8, prolly shod in 235/45 rubber(almost look like RS3 or Z1ss), and 13" cobra brakes.

Edit: Tim, I'm not stalking you build, it just seems about the same as I would have done/already did..... ;)
