I'm taking my 2013 police interceptor ecoboost, I call her dirty harriet, to the midnight drags tomorrow night. I'm looking for any tips on getting the best 1/4 mile time possible. I've heard differing opinions on things such as:

What rpm to launch?

Traction control on or off?

Here are my current mods:
Catted downpipes
CAI
Thermostat
MagnaFlow cat back
New pre gapped plugs
Livernois tuner
MAP

Any advice would be much appreciated.

On a side note, I'm located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Can anyone on here running their SHO in high altitude areas give me an idea of what time I should run?

Anything in the 12's would be great in the high altitude.

If you're going for ET and not the race...

Drop tire psi to F/25 R/27
Avoid water box
Shallow stage, barely get the 2nd stage light to pop on
I'd start at an RPM launch around 23-2400, move down if too much wheel spin
Be mindful of the foot on the brake, long distance to get fully off the brake.
Remove engine cover
Ice on the intake to help cooling
Don't flash tune at track
If stopped in staging lanes, wipe the tires clean.
Try to have less than 1/4 tank of gas, take out spare tire, remove all extras from car.
If hot lapping, you have about 3 runs before the heat soak takes over...so let it cool

Drive fast! Is that good advice? LOL JK!

The key is learn how your particular car likes to launch on that track and how that track runs. If you can dump all the unnecessary items in your car you are in good shape. The SHO sits on really rigid and tight platform it is a formidable opponent to almost any weekend warrior you'll see.

If you take advice from anyone on the forum other than us, Rich is your man! He is the world's quickest tune only SHO...I'd say he knows a thing or two about getting your couch to fly! The only thing that Rich needs to watch out for is his wife, she is almost as fast as he is!

Wow thanks, you brought up a lot of things I didn't even think about.
What's your opinion on traction control? I've heard most people say to take it off, but then I've also heard people saying to leave it on if the car has been heavily modded.

TCS off...to stage shallow will take patience also. Don't get intimidated or nervous if other car stages quickly, take your time. I get the first light to pop on and stop. At this point I don't move forward looking at 2nd stage light. I barely nudge it forward and stop...then look at stage light, usually takes me 3 times of doing this to barely get that 2nd one on...if you move forward and stop when you see it light up, you're not staged shallow.

Being staged shallow you're going to have to leave on the 3rd yellow, meaning...when you see that yellow you launch, if you wait to see green you're going to be late.

Thx...she is getting much better, her tree work needs some refining, but she's getting there. We're hoping for her to get a little lower than the 12.42 and let her hold the title for a few!!!
