Just picked up a 99 SHO for 500 bucks starts runs and drives. needs rocker love,suspension, alternator. and the smaller things like fluid changes a battery and a good cleaning. dont know if the cams are welded yet, car has 235,000 km, and purs nicely

Are the cams welded to the sprockets?

haven't quite got that far yet just got it in the driveway this long weekend, off work tomorrow so i mite do some looking for a weld or a not weld we'll see.. anything else i should be on the lookout for?, it does run and sounds fine to me but hey my first SHO so im learning.

WP 20150523 10 50 00 Raw WP 20150523 10 53 23 Raw WP 20150523 10 49 52 Raw sadly i see no welds on the front, so most likely not on the back either. how should i proceed? car is parked in driveway no plates, got a few to many things off to start it rite now aswell.

Hi, last year I was in the same situation and it's cost me around 175$ (can.) with towing.

If you're a little good in mechanic retrieve the intake (the surge tank) and slack the covers valve, call the best (and honest) garage you know (not Ford) and ask them if they are welding with a MIG (because of less particles process). Tow the car there they will just have to retrieve the covers and weld them (4). The rear are more difficult (less place) be sure to weld them at many place on cam to do this, you will have to "start" the car with all the coils unpluged. (I forgot 4 and the car want to run...:S ). This will give you access to the other side of the cams to weld them. After that, take the car at home and re-bolt the intake.

Before beginning, make a search here and on V8sho.com site to find photos of good welded cams.
