Does anyone make a cable/connectors to bypass the amp in the trunk? I've searched all over the net but haven't been able to find one.

How did you bypass it? I know I could cut the connectors and solder but that's going to be a major PITA where it's located

It was just a double female connector that just ran the inputs straight to the speaker. Its at home or id get you a picture. (college student)

Are gen 1s aready prewired for "standard sound" like Gen 2s? On a gen 2 with JBL there is another connector or two in the dash near the radio...you can just use standard Ford adapter harnesses, then unplug the amps, and BAM, bypassed.

When I had my dash out to do the heater core I didn't see any connectors, I just took a look again all around the radio and still don't see anything, so I'm going to assume not.

Did you buy that somewhere or is it part of the car? I've never seen anything like that back there.

Look in the dash where the radio sits. In the upper left corner should be two standard audio connectors just wire into those. My 91 Plus has them but I just used the JBL audio connections via a Ford premium stereo (for mach equipped cars) adapters for my pioneer head unit.

Today while working on my car I found the elusive connectors! They're behind the clock. I cut and soldered it and holy crap it sounds so much better :dribble:

Here's what they look like behind the clock, the one on the right is for the speakers and the one on the left is for the power and stuff.

Then here's what it looks like pulled down through the radio opening

On my car there was a duplicate wire color code (Two green orange wires) so I had to use a multimeter to figure out which speaker it went to, but besides that it went quite smoothly.

It only took about an hour or so and when I was done the time was about 14.9 AFR :p
