Okay. Finally got my 95 back up and running after a 2 1/2 month hiatus. She's running like a top, but there's a couple of lil things that're bugging me. One's important, one's just annoying.
First, the important one. The fuel guage. Replaced the fuel pump and sending unit with a used one (Walbro 155lph with about 10k on it and the sending unit out of my 92) last friday. Drove through a full tank of gas and all went well, both city driving and highway. All guages reading happily, and fuel economy was SPLENDID after driving that gas hog of a 98. Monday morning, I went out for a job interview, and the fuel guage bottomed out. Speedo wasn't working, either. Gave the guage cluster a lil tap since I don't have that nifty piece of protective plastic over it, and the speedo jumped right up, but the fuel guage was still sitting at the bottom of the dash. I was flummoxed and mildly concerned till the low fuel light came on on the way to work. So I get to work, throw in $20 worth of gas, and the guage jumped up to 1/4 a tank. Hmmmmm. As the night progressed, the fuel guage dropped as it normally does while delivering pizzas. So today, I ripped the back seat up again and ripped the sending unit out, thinking maybe the float got screwed up. Threw the old pickup in there with the bad fuel pump on it, and the same thing occurred. Hmmmm again. Keep in mind, the fuel pump cutoff in the trunk was tripped through all this, so as not to burn out another fuel pump.
Here's where the plot thickens. I pull the original pick up out and manually hold it at a full tank and trip the key again. The guage wandered up to 5/8ths of a tank. INteresting. Tried it with the replacement pick up...same thing. It's as if the fuel guage somehow twisted 1 inch counter-clockwise. It's reading correct, but it's twisted somehow. Is this a problem with the guage cluster or somewhere in the wiring? I find it hard to believe that the float's the problem, since it did the same thing with two seperate sending units. Any ideas?
Here's the annoying issue.......
BDA....had a heater core replaced about a month ago, and now the BDA's makin all sorts of noise behind the dash, and no matter what temp I set my EATC at, it's blowing full hot. Please tell me I don't have to rip my dash apart to fix this.......
K...that's it. Any suggestions? Recommendations? Funny sayings?
Thanks!
