Just starting a thread to see what people have got for top end runs on their 2010 SHO's.
I know some people will not approve of this thread as speed is mainly for off street racing. I personally try to keep it to the track but when the track is closed for how ever months over the winter sometimes it is hard to do the responsible thing...
So with that said, how fast have you had your new SHO?
Personally I shut mine down at just about 135 on the speedo yesterday coming home from visiting a friend down is Mass. I was starting to run out of road but she was still pulling very strong.
I am going to try to do a video of a top end blast either tonight or tomorrow to have proof as some may call bull$hit on it.
I want to take the hole 140 on the speedo, but I think I will need a better camera as mine is old and only does 15 sec videos. I would like to start from a stand still and blast it to just over the 140 mark and call it a day.
That will happen very soon so stay tuned.....
In the mean time post your speeds...
Thanks,
Bill

Got over 115 following an M5, but not much further yet, weather turned bad quick here...now we have melting snow everywhere that freezes at night, bleh.

Btw, good to see you around Bill, I remember you from F150online days with your Lightning. :) I still have mine (2000 Black)

Hi Bill & thepawn:

Another former Lightning/Blackwood driver, f150online member here, now a 2010 SHO driver.

Due to the craziness of running my HobbyTown USA store during the Christmas season I have not really posted anything on this forum much yet but starting today I am taking 5 days off after working 7 days a week since mid November. I hope to post my impressions of the car soon.

I picked up mine on 6 Nov and just yesterday turned 1,000 miles on the clock.
Only had it up to 85, so not much to add to this particular thread as at age 70 in two months I am not likely to try to break the sound barrier again.

Good to hear from you both.

Bill

bill...i believe that your car is capable of those speeds. i wrote on this thread a while back saying that i have hit speeds near 150 on gps. everyone blasted me and called it *********. Ive been waiting for someone to say the same thing. I also just got the SHO out of the shop. Due to a bad bearing, they had to replace my whole transfer case. i have had a tune for the car, pushing well into the 400hp range with the limiter turned up.(not tuned right now due to michigan winters) Getting a video camera soon so i can get evidence on top speed. just got a gtech for christmas, so i can put up, 0-60, 1/4 mile times, etc..

I suggest taking this to a track. You're doing rediculous speeds on open roads and I'm guessing you'll **** yourself [and someone else], or be arrested.

Bill, like I said be safe... I set your limiter at 150, so it should shut off then.. get the car to shut off first before you GPS it. then ill keep bumping it 10 at a time.

Im glad its pulling harder then before up top like that..

Will do Kirk, on a closed track of course... I want to see this bad boy pull 160 mph.....;) Thanks again, very happy with the tune and I know it only gets better the more testing we do...:woo-hoo:

One of my fellow HobbyTown owners is at the CES in Las Vegas this week and he passed this item on to us.

In our case it would be to keep RC flyers and RC car guys honest about the speed of their planes and vehicles but I see an application here as well if you can get a bud to "shoot" your car from roadside (Not) or trackside when you do a full speed run. If you have a marked 1/4 mile you might be able to get a close trap speed as well.

There are currently a couple of 1 mile Land Speed Racing venues that don't require massive amount of safety equipment. That way you can test out the top end without unneccesary risk to you or others.

Those are the Miami Mile and Mojave Mile.

BTW, you can't really depend on what the EEC reports nor a GPS at "high speeds" as an actually speed of the vehicle.

The ABS driven speed signal to the PCM should be very accurate. The actual speedometer reading if it is off it is because it's being told to be off. But unless Ford went to 256K memory for the speed signal range that is loggable it is going to be 0-127.5 mph (128 bits) as a PCM signal. Of course the speedometer operates beyond this.

If the 2010 models are like the past ones the speedo will read 1-2 mph fast at "normal" speeds compared to the PCM data.
