Faster shifts in manual mode - 2016 non PP

I use my paddles frequently in S mode, just to amuse myself, and to hear the engine wind up (yes I know it's faster without the paddles). It shifts well enough from 1 to 2, but is slower 2 to 3. Is there an upgrade that would make the shifts quicker with the paddles?

Tbh, the manual shift paddles in these platforms are a bit of a gimmick. Though not completely useless (i really only use them when I datalog to get it into 3rd gear at low rpm), they aren't exactly meant for performance shifting.

A tune MAY help slightly but the inherent nature of this transaxle doesn't lend itself to immediate shifts. For the quick/immediate shift response like you hear in higher end vehicles, you'd need a dual-clutch transmission.

Like John said above, the paddles as a shift mechanism aren't that good. The main purpose they serve is for manually dropping gear for datalogs or roll racing, or for autocross or mountain carving scenarios when you need to force the car to stay in a certain gear.

Like both John and SM105K said, a tune will help to revamp the transmission shift characteristics and help the transmission shift faster and at higher pressure, but the delay on the paddles won't change much since you are adding an extra function that has to be accomplished before the shift. Often you'll also find on the stock PCM that even in SPORT mode with paddles the car will try to overtake you at higher rpms to prevent hitting the rev limiter, so the delay you're seeing may be the car catching itself shifting as you send the signal and it creates a delay to prevent hitting the limiter or performing a skip shift.

Another advantage I just learned about from @ridered74 with the paddle shifters is the ability to upshift into 6th gear at as low of speed as possible. Then with light acceleration, you can obtain the desired conditions to get your OAR to adjust. I was having some low power issues and he traced it down to the OAR. By using this method, I was able to get my OAR where desired VERY fast and get the car to it's full power potential. Other than that, I have never used them.

That's literally the only thing I've ever used them for too. Lmao!

I assume the change in car was noticeable once you got it to -.96?
