My cooling fans won't turn off, even with the key out of the ignition. Could the CCRM be the problem, or would that only be a problem when the key is on?

if the relay contacts in the ccrm are welded, they can cause the fans to stay on even with the key switch off.

this could very well be the computer.. this is how the fan system works.. if you unplug the PCM the fans run none stop.. this is because the factory PCM grounds out the fan pin to shut it off.

when there is no ground it will run the fan.

this in turn when un grounded triggers the relay in the CCRM..

almost every CCRM fan related failure i ever seen didnt allow the fans to turn on, not the other way around.

When my CCRM failed in my old 94 mtx it made the fans run constantly but only when the ignition was in run or on position.

Wacky Ford electronics, it fixed itself! Haven't let it warm completely up yet to see if they will come on, though. The battery had recently been just been discharged, so maybe that caused a brainfart?
