I have been running with an out of state ECU, 80mm MAF, and shoshop chip in my '90 car for about 3 months. When I went to smog it, it failed. My question is this... DO you have to let the ECU relearn, I put on all my stock parts, including my stock CA ECU and when to the shop. Did it fail because I didn't let it relearn? I heard you should give the car about 200 miles or so.

These are my results in the area that failed.

I can't really figure out what your numbers mean, but if your NOx is too high, then that means that the temps in your combustion chambers are too high. This could be cause by a lean condition, too far advanced timing, deficient cooling system, etc.

Maybe more relevant, it is the specific function of the EGR system to lower NOx levels. I assume CA is pretty tough on that since Ford had to put EGR systems on CA SHOs right from the get-go in order to sell them in that state.

So what's your EGR system looking like right now? Do you even have it hooked up?
