factory sub not working

just picked up this 94 sho mtx... however the stereo is weak and theres little to no bass.. the silver amp on the left has a red and yellow wire going into them and both have power enough to light up a test light... isnt the red a ground?

Keep in mind the edge around the cone can dry and come off. Drop the box and open it up to see if the cone has any damage. My 1994 came with a bad cone. (no sub and alot of crackling) I was able to pick up a working one of a 95 or you can buy an 8 inch sub and replace it.... if that is the problem. It's fairly easy to drop in an 8 inch if you have a dremel tool.
