I am not only interested, I will for sure buy one. Let us know when you are ready, and how to make payment. I would be willing to spend, say, up to $80 - $100 for one. I assume that you were thinking about $80 mark. Anyway, I for sure will buy one when they are ready.

I went to WWU for plastics engineering, and my Dad is a plastics engineer in El Paso. You will have the best luck doing this as a cold, low pressure mold. The limited production numbers will raise the price WAY over their possible value if you attempt to manufacture these in a high pressure molding machine. Try some local hobby stores and get some resin. Make the mold out of rubber, pour the resin in mostly full, let it kinda cure, put the Din cage in, fill rest of way with resin, let cure, pop out the finished part. The Din cage will then be part of the part. Just a thought....

One other question I haven't seen posted yet. How are you going to incorporate the climate controls? Seems like the the radio controls and the climate controls are both integrated into the same circuit board. That's one thing that has deterred me from trying to find one at a junkyard and modifying it myself. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas for that?

I think that He'll need to get another power source for the new radio and the biggest problem is going to be the relocation of some components from the climate control, Long time ago I started my experiment to do that but havent finish it because no time and also I haven't figure how to relocate the climate control thing and make it work. That by the way was using the factory face of the radio, haven't done a custom kit like the one he's making already. Waiting for him to start produccion on that kit.(Hopefully)

Well, like I said, I was thinking about buying another oval from a U-pull it and checking out the circuit board. I can see from posted pics that the radio controls and the climate controls are on the same board, but I would like to see how seperated they are. If the top half is dedicated for the radio, it wouldn't be too much trouble to cut the board in half and then teach myself how to do fiberglass to fill in the radio holes and cut thhe opening for a DIN chassis.

I am still going to follow through guys dont worry its been remote start season and my time is consumed with install after install. Anyone that attempts to fiber glass needs to know how to properly layer so its nice and strong . Thanks for the molding advice yes i was looking at the 100 dollar mark maybe less depending on how many i make. Remember im not some company or a major outfit just a high end custom car audio fabricator i work 60 hours a week on installs let alone any freee time for my self but as remote start season chills out ill have some time to worry about the kit i own a gen 2 sho im doing this to contribute alot of my time to make something happen with this thanks and ill keep you guys posted and thank you all for your suggestions and comments.

Hi, just to answer cjaldrich, According to an electronic engineer you can't cut the circuit's that control the radio and climate control, That's why I suppose that we'll need to supply another power source for the aftermarket stereo.

Well, then maybe iwantashomtx could lend some insight on how he overcame that issue. I have a feeling that the circuits for the radio and the climate control are pretty well isolated, save for maybe a common power and ground. If that's the case, it shouldn't be too difficult to seperate them and if necessary just have to solder the power and ground to the climate control section, and wire a constant and switched power wire for the new stereo.

Feel like divulging some of your trade secrets iwantashomtx? I'm not trying to capitalize on your hard work, especially since I have never worked with fiberglass before, but I am curious how you overcame that obstacle and how much more modifying will need to be done by those of us who invest in your product to use it. Thanks. :thumb:

Spring weather is approaching and I'm itching to replace the oem headunit. Any news on this kit or should I start looking at other options?
