Wanted to share my experience with XDI-HPFP-35 fuel pump Gearhead tune and E30

All I can say is WOW.
TO this point I have:
Gearhead intercooler
PPE Downpipes
MDS Coils
AirAid intake
Gearhead tuned

I would say that XDI pump upgrade and E30 was more power than all the mods I listed above, such a crazy upgrade, if you have not done it yet, WHY NOT???

I had E30 tune on stock fuel pump and after much of the tuning and going back and forth with Matt Robinson from Gearhead, he convinced me to get XDI, stock pump and E30 has it's limitation.

SO Anyway, few pics, video:

Thank you

SuperPete I enjoyed this video. Cool to capture all that excitement doing your datalogs! Has me itching to do the same! Plus I'll reference this to install mine. Thanks for showing how you use Fuel-It and mix your ethonal.

You still able to swap this spark plug without removing the fuel line? View attachment 11844

No, you have to unscrew the fuel line AND the connector for that fuel line that is screwed into the pump housing.

Sounds like a PIA, but it’s not. Just a couple extra easy steps.

How often you do plugs?
I don't think his is an big issue, like 76FoMoCo says, use towel, it only drips couple of OZ, adds few extra minutes to the deal

803, you will be mind blown after the upgrade, it's crazy.
I will be doing E40 video shortly, Matt says I will gain more power, but dude, I am in 2nd, rolling 40, punch gas and brake traction, what, how much more do I need I dont know but I am willing to try it

Excellent write up! Thanks!

May I ask what was different in your updated tune? Was it just accounting for the higher available fuel pressure or was there something else, like moving to E40? Just trying to gauge how much improvement this brought with everything else being equal.

Also...why the 35 and not the 60? ...other than cost? :)

Tune was done my GearHead, so I dont know in details, but talking back and forth with Matt the creator of the tunes he was able to push more boost with new pump, stock pump was limiting boos because of the fuel supply, so more boost, E30-40 is more explosive lets say so higher timing, I am at 24 advanced timing at this point, that accounts for lots of the power gain, 18psi boost right now, when stock pump was at 15 due to pressure drop
Now, this XDI-35 pump is maxing out at E45 and so as your injectors, you want more you need XDI-55 pump, new injectors and new supply pump that is in the tank.

Who told you that the XDI35 maxes with E45? I'm running E85 on the XDI35 with stock injectors without issue. I have the DW300C pump ready to install but haven't done it yet because I'm lazy...

I was under the impression that our cars shouldn't use straight E85. Never heard why though... My impression was the fuel lines or something...

Fuel lines are ethanol compatible and all rubber components are viton. The E85 constraint was the hpfp, but the rest is perfectly suitable. The DW300 is needed once you're max effort and upgraded turbos require the xdi60 and injectors, but stock turbos you can run e85 no problem if you're tuned properly for it.

18 psi, 27 degrees of timing, 2600 psi fuel rail pressure.

Some guys here run on e85 and not having problems yet.
E85 is "corrosive" and can eat up your fittings or lines. I head that all ford cars after 2013 have e85 comply fuel systems and can run e85 if fuel system, pump and injectors allow.

Every car built after 2008 has viton components and starlite lines due to federal regulations for ethanol subsidies.

From what I know, the injectors are good literally until engine failure. It is both pumps that need to be upgraded.

So I could potentially switch between your auto octane tune and the E85 tune! With only changing the tune? ...and the fuel of course.
