just curious if anyone out there has added an assist cooling fan (in front of the condenser) that could be switched manually to help the A/C system or to help keep the car cooler? forgive me if thats a dumb idea...

Its not a dumb idea by any stretch of the imagination especially if your accustom to other types of cars. I live in the armpit of texas so I should know about that. The taurus fan is a great fan for what it is. I can let any of the shos I have own idle all day long on a 110 degree day here in tx with the a/c on and none of them would get even close to hot. If the cooling system is up to ***** you shouldnt need an assister fan. Your a/c shouldnt need any help either. My 90 blows 37 degrees out the vent regardless of me sitting still or moving. -Karson

Exactly. :thumb:

Even on supercharged and full blown track SHO's, the stock cooling system in good working order is plenty sufficient. I even think all the dual-core radiators people put in are really unnecessary.

One thing a lot of people ignore is the radiator cap. If it doesn't maintain the ~15 lbs pressure then it can't cool as efficiently. Cheap and easy to replace. It should probably be done every 4 years or so.

Yes, and the best are the Motorcraft brand caps.
