Hey guys, I pick up a 2014 SHO with the performance pack on Wednesday Feb 4th. I just put a deposit down. It has 13k miles on it and its a Ford certified car so it gets 48 months 48k bumper to bumper warranty. But I picked up the Ford Premium warranty for $2400 extra, which covers the car until 2022 or 125k miles. Its the decked out warranty but has anybody come across anything this warranty doesn't cover?

Also Autonation offered me a rim and tire warranty for $500. It covers me bending the rim or blowing the tire out for 5 years and unlimited mileage. Sounded like a good idea since those rims look expensive. I already asked, I can get tires from somewhere else and the warranty still covers it. I just have to take it to a autonation dealership. Does this seem worth it?

Will post pics of the car when I get it. Thanks

Think it'd be cheaper to buy the coverage from tire supplier if you buy aftermarket. Doesn't cover the rim, but if you live outside of Michigan that should be fine. I also think the tires that came on the car should have a 36k factory warranty.

Most times, the damage has been to the face of the wheel (such as curb rashes), which is generally not covered by ANY warranty. If roads in your area have giant potholes or you have a tendency to go 4x4'ing over large immovable objects :) then the warranty is a good idea. I think Ford has a separate wheel/tire warranty add-on, their ESP plans do not cover these. Now, road hazard protection for your tires is a great idea, and not that expensive. Though I have to say, in the last few years of driving and facing potholes, sudden bumps, nails, storm debris, haven't had a problem yet.

Compare the Ford ESP plans here: http://www.factoryplans.com/assets/cms/files/brochure_FordESPPlanOptions.pdf As a side note, you might have gotten a better deal buying it online from a Ford dealer, but if you are financing your car, then you might want to stick with the dealer (albeit negotiate price) you are buying it from.

Also be sure to note that the coverage is generally from the original purchase date. So look over the agreement carefully to see how many years actually remaining. Hopefully your SHO was a late 2014 manufactured unit. Go here to see more factory details about your SHO. Did you get a carfax/autocheck report to go with, so you can tell when it was first sold?

I got it for my 2014 SHO and the Finance Manager said it does cover the wheels/rims also! Very worth it, especially where I live with some ***-holes but even without holes in the road, if you curb check the car or drive over something on the road or road construction where there's a sharp drop off, etc.
