The extended Ford warranty on my 2017 SHO (64K miles) will run out in September. Is it possible to purchase an additional extension through Ford? Barring that can anyone suggest a good extended warranty vendor?

TIA

yes under 100k you can probably get another Ford extended. Maybe even more mileage given the extended financing intervals now. There are a few discount oem FOrd warranty vendors you can find online. Look at the warranty you want and then price shop by requesting quotes from each place. THere are others you can find online but I have not kept up with them since my own SHO is now 30 yrs old

Any thoughts on a good "universal" (non-Ford) extended warranty, anyone

On the non-oem service contracts, you just have to read the details of the contract. You want an "exclusionary" coverage, and you want to make sure you know exactly what is on the excluded list and that you can live with those items not being covered. A lot of the non-oem service contracts exclude most of the computer modules and sensors, imho that is not acceptable and I would not consider one that excluded those items.

Some have luck with them but in my opinion without diving deep into it the overview is aftermarket is a crapshoot. rubydist outlined a great deal of it. The other end is some of these are backed by companies that are not financially sound and, in the past, had high numbers of folding and leaving owners with nothing.. or a general principle of denying alot of coverage as a default business practice. "My xyz coverage was great" is a valid experience but I can only look at the broad market for patterns. I would not spend my own money on a non oem extended warranty. Even then, you need to sift through the options of coverage and know what exactly is covered.

we had good luck with our aftermarket warranty on our 2010 fusion bought used from a GM dealership. but we also had a trusted service shop talking with the warranty company. vehicleone by ally bank. some have had some luck with mastercraft.

will you get new/remanufactured ford replacement parts with those warranties or will they make you take used/aftermarket parts? like insurance cos do with collision coverage.

but in most cases, ford warranty will be the best you can get. sometimes you can get lifetime warranties at dealerships but no idea if they are value for the money.

people like zeigler a lot too but lombards is the one i am most familiar with.
