anyone ever heard of a water combustion engine??? well, i have seen one. the other day im on my way to a friends house and i notice the temp rising. i know i have an issue with this, but i thought i had enough water. so i pulled over, poured my spare gallon of water in as soon as it was cool enough. get temp low in band, crank up and go again. not 5 min later, temp skyrockets and engine shuts down and i coast to a stop. could not get it to start again after 3 hrs of rest. had to push start it to get it running.......then steam from the exhaust.......blown head gasket?

Probably.
If the starter motor would not turn the engine over, then a cylinder was hydro locked with antifreeze in at least one cylinder (liquids do not compress). You'll be lucky if you didn't crack a head/block or bend a connecting rod (due to the hydro lock).

running all water. so if liquid was in the cylinder, it would have been steam because the temp of engine greater than boiling, correct? therefore it would have had some type of path to leak out to.
