What do you guys think (all prices are parts, labor, tax, etc.)

Power Steering Pump - $525
Fix trans pan gasket leak - $145
Tie rods (both) - $195
Wheel bearing (right front) - $310
Oil Filter Adapter Bracket leak - $175

And that's not everything, that's just the stuff that I'm considering having them do...

That seems pretty high. I just bought a PS pump and the part itself was only $159. The tie rod ends are like $18 each. A wheel bearing is about $45 plus another $30 to press the bearing in. Leaks are cheap. These are parts only, but it seems like they are marking them up quite a bit and then adding a lot of labor. All the work can be done by you if you are reasonably good with tools. The inner tie rod ends are a bit difficult and require a special tool. Don't forget to get an alignment after all this work too.

See if there is someone else in your area that you might be able to team up with and do the work yourself so you can have more money for mods

I run a shop. Some of those prices seem about what you may expect. If the guy is going with a strong mark up on parts, and charging book time. Remember most shops are at least 70.00 per hour now.

That pan gasket kit will cost about 25.00 ( 17 bolts and some fluid ) EASY

Tie rods are not that hard and they inexpensive to buy.

The wheel bearing sounds hard, but it is not that bad. They are over 100.00 IIRC though.

I would search those repairs. You may find out that you can do some of this yourself. Good Luck.

Find yourself a fellow member in your area that is good with a wrench and has a history and good reputation of working with a SHO, youll save on parts and youll pay less than 70 bucks an hour.

If that's the "norm" for having your car worked on I can see why people trade so often. That's a crazy amount of money for a shadetree mechanices weekend worth of work...

Well, every place i've been around the Albany NY area has quoted me no more than 220 for a front right wheel bearing replacement. That was the most expensive, the cheapest was 140. I'm going to do both front bearings myself anyways now...but just figured i'd let you know. That was also places I would trust, not just any old shop and most certainly not a dealership. I should say that the cheapest was at a shop I go to somewhat regularly so I don't think he would rip me off...if anything he might be giving me a slightly better deal?

I agree, the prices are a bit high. You can do most of that work yourself with the help of some forum members, a garage and a few tools.
