Epp hot pipes install help

I'm currently installing my epp dual feed intake and hot pipes and I'm stuck!! I can't figure out how to remove the rear turbo hose so that I can install the new "s" silicone hose that comes with the kit. I can feel the hose clamp and I can see it from underneath the car but I can't get a socket up from underneath the car.

If you have any advice, please let me know!!!

I've heard of people jacking up the car and going from underneath to get it off.

I did that but I can't get a socket to it, it's too close to the turbo and my socket hits the turbo just enough to make it not sit on the bolt correctly.

I did that but I can't get a socket to it, it's too close to the turbo and my socket hits the turbo just enough to make it not sit on the bolt correctly.

You have an open ended 8mm wrench? Might get the job done.

I was so frustrated that I had to stop cuz I was going to break something. I'll try using an open ended wrench.

Oh another question for you since you have both the hot pipes and air intake, i tried test fitting both pipes for the front turbo to the bov pipe and the intercooler pipe to the air box. Both metal pipes were hitting each other and I couldn't get them both in in such a small space. Any helpful advice about that small area??

It's tight, but once you get everything fitted up couplers and all you can tweak it a little bit to get a tiny bit of space. It's a very tight area, but once you get everything tightened down and tweaked to the right angles you should have a few mm of space between the pipes. Good luck! Sometimes you need to take a break before you rage break something LOL. Same thing with my brake job the other day. Dummy me had wrong pad on wrong side. Just needed to eat some lunch and chill out for a few, then back at it.

I ran into same issue with the S tube on rear turbo. It was at just a perfect angle that I couldn't get a socket on it no matter what kind of different sized extensions I tried to get the socket on it. Ended up using a stubby flatblade screwdriver, I could just barely get it onto the edge of the flat part of bolt opening and basically used a hammer on the stubby to chip the bolt around enough times to loosen it. Took a good hour to do that. Made me make sure to have it at a reachable angle when I put the new clamp on.

Good point on the rage breaks, that's probably a better strategy than mine. I keep a 9/16 socket (that I never use) nearby, instead of taking a rage break, I pick that socket up and chuck it against the wall as hard as I can. Next time I'll try your method instead.

If you can install hot pipes and an intake you can patch drywall. Just don't use a deep socket, makes a much larger hole.

In all seriousness tho, if you don't have an electric ratchet in your tools, get one. That makes the install soooooo much easier and less frustrating.

Haha it wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't home i could fix it before she got off work, but since we are basically quarantined she would come out as soon as she heard it and i would have to fix the hole before i got to finish the install.

I do have an electric ratchet and made the install of everything else so easy peasy but that damn clamp was too much for me today.

Ya my first attempt I removed everything else first, then got stopped dead in my tracks on that clamp and had to put everything else back in it. If I were selling the kit I would put a note in saying to start with that clamp first. Once you get that S hose off you are pretty much committed to doing the entire thing at that point.

Getting the new S hose on is a little tricky too. I had to guide it into place from the top, and then reach up from bottom to pull it onto the turbo. After that part is done the rest will feel easy, although still aggravating.

^^^ Haha! I've seen some of the absolute most horrible/pathetic tape jobs from guys with 20+ years experience. So even an experienced taper can't necessarily patch drywall....without it looking like garbage.

Even if I was doing it, my version would be slightly different...as my passenger axle is removed/Downpipes ......

Finally got everything installed! That clamp was a big B!!! I had to use a 12" flat head screwdriver from underneath the car, but once i got that stupid clamp out it was smooth sailing until it came to installing the air box, filter and the 2 pipes that go into the air box. I looked at other people's pictures of their install and they were able to get the ckamps on the outside of the box but I couldn't do that cuz the pipes would only go so far into the filter so I had to clamp them inside of the box. Everything is solid and doesn't move so I guess it'll work.

I took it for a little test drive and i can hear the turbos spooling up and I love the sound of the bov! This is my 1st turbo car so I have been driving around and letting off the gas just so I can hear the bov's. The car feels like it pulls harder but that could just be in my head. Looks badass! Good job buddy! Oh I'm sure she is more responsive and has more lungs on the top end than before. It's not just in your head
