ok, i just swapped a 93 sho engine into my 89 and i can't get it to run at all. is there any reason why this swap won't work? I have spark and the injectors are firing, but i just can't get the thing to run at all. doesn't even seem like it wants to fire at all. thanks for your help

Are the starter and starter solenoid installed correctly? Did you use the computer from your 89 or 93? Is it a 3.2 swap?

i'm using the 89 computer. no, i haven't doublechecked the starter and solenoid, but i will asap. it's not a 3.2 swap, the 89 engine just had too many miles and smoked, etc, so i decided to switch it out with the 93 that i had. i just checked the cam timing, and it's right. i'm pretty much at a dead end here.

An engine is an engine is an engine. You need fuel, spark, and air to make it run. The engine doesn't know or care what version PCM is connected, as long as it's a SHO PCM. I don't believe there were any wiring differences between the years, but if you're using the wiring harnesses from the '93 you might want to try the '93 PCM in case there were. You might also need to use the '93 CCRM since I seem to remember someone pointing out a couple of differences between the G1 and G2 CCRM's (or IRCM as they used to be called back then). Also double-check every single connection under the hood.

Are you positive the injectors are firing and delivering fuel?

ok, we finally got it running, but only because we unplugged the cam position sensor. I seem to have narrowed the problem down to the red/green wire on that plug. i changed the sensor with another that i am sure is good, so it's not the sensor itself. sorry for my ignorance, but could you tell me more about the ccrm? i'm not exactly sure what or where that is. thanks
