Yes, I'm finally a member of this forum!

SHO members, I need your help.
Like it says in the title, somewhere in the engine, there was smoke coming out.
I'll start from the beginning.
1st problem car shut off. I thought it was the crank positioning sensor again, but it wasn't.
2nd The car started, but it sounded like it was really weak.
3rd My ignition coil melted. I replaced the ignition coil, and then noticed it started to smoke under the intake manifold (left side) near fuel pressure regulator.
4th Changed fuel pressure regulator because it was leaking fuel.
After I changed all these parts, the smoke still continued.
The car started to smoke when I put the key in the "ON" position. So, it has to be an electrical problem.
I took off the intake manifold, and that is where I am stuck.
I have tried to research everywhere (even on this site), but cannot find anything.
Please help, thank you.
If you need more info, please let me know.

That is were the big wire bundle is. Have you checked it for chaffing. You could have a wire that is shorting out in it or rubbed through the black wrapping and is touch metal somewhere. Are there any codes?

If you changed the crank position sensor, those wires run down that area. I would check those real good. could have been pinched or something. Good luck, let us know what you find

Time to dig into the harness. I would start with the wires that go from the cam sensor to the coil pack. I believe that the power wire is red/green stripe.

Edit: I have fixed 2 sho's that had a problem in this area if the wiring harness.

Ok, I'll start looking for the wires to see if there is something crispy.
I wasn't able to pull up the codes because it is OBD1 and autozone only has OBDII on hand. (I have a 95 SHO Auto. Currently not running. 95000miles)

They work for me.

For those of you who can't see, it's a wire in the valley between the heads. The pictures aren't great though. Isn't there a ground for the O2 sensors in that area? Been a while since I dug that far into one.

Yup, there's a ground in the intake valley, also wiring for the knock sensor.

Take the fuel rail out and get that stuff repaired! Also, if it's the ground wire that's burnt check the rest of the harness. Chances are it's shorted to a wire that has power.

Sorry, guys. I took more photos with a different camera and uploaded them to photobucket.
I circled the burnt cable.
This might be a dumb question, what is that main cable called?
It runs under the fuel rail, and spreads out everywhere.

I have been looking around for the main wire harness, and have come out disappointed.
Does anyone know where I can find a diagram?
Thanks.

I concur with Bob. Disconnect the injectors, and pull fuel rail so you can open up that harness and repair it.

Any suggestions to repair the wiring harness?

You'll have to cut all that tape, and under that will be a hard plastic convoluted tube with a split in it lengthwise. Take it all off, and repair wiring as needed. I'd do one at a time so they don't get mixed up. Cut out damaged section, replace with new wire, repeat until done.

If you have the means, soldering the repairs and covering with heatshrink tube is your best option.

Personally, I'd get a new harness. You have it torn down enough it won't be that hard to swap.

There could be other problem areas in that harness that you don't even know about yet.

Post in the WTB, there are a few in the classifieds or talk to the vendors who can get you a good used one....NEsho, shosource, ect.

I have not been able to locate any junked cars like mine. I haven't had much luck searching online. So, I think I have to let it go.
