I just recently purchased my first SHO. A 1993 ATX. Its previous owner was a young kid who tried to play tag with a deer and won. Among some of the issues that come with buying a car with 161.000 miles like every thing in the interior being loose. I started it up for the first time since I brought it home to check her out. It sat for two years before I bought it.

When it first started (First try) it ran like it had only 20 miles on the odometer. I was impressed to say the least. After about 10 minutes of idling a noise started somewhere around the pullies (a whine). I couldn't tell where it was coming from due to all the stuff blocking the way like the over flow bottle. And with 3 inches of snow on the ground I really didn't feel like crawling around on the ground either.

After about 10 more minutes or so it stopped and ran like when I first started it. The question I have is has anyone else had this problem?

I can't wait to get it on the road and give her a full workup.

There can be all sorts of sources for unusual noises under the hood of a SHO, some worse than others.

One of the best investments you can make as an owner is to go down to your local auto parts store, and shell out the $7-$10 for a mechanic's stethoscope. That will prove invaluable to helping locate such noises, since diagnosing them over the internet can be a bit challenging!
