I own a '93 ATX with 114K miles. Lately, it started to make a rattling noise at idle and most noteably between 1500-2000 RPM (for whatever reason, it stops after 2000RPM). I had a machanic check it out and he said the tensioner belt is loose and that the noise is the sound from it hitting against the housing.
While browsing online for parts (since my local machanic said only parts he could find are expensive dealer parts), when I try to search for the tensioner, I see:
1. Timing Chain Tensioner - left and right
2. Serpentine belt.
Are both of these the same thing?
Now, I'm pass due for my 100K schedule maintenance which includes timing belt change. Thus, I decided to replace:
1. Timing belt
2. Water pump
3. crankshaft position sensor
4. front main seal
Anything else?
