Happened on the way home.

Just driving then without warning the engine quits. I coast off the road to a secure parking place. I attempted to the car and it would run for a few seconds then quit.

I allow the car to cool down for a while then eventually it will start up again and drive good until it warms up. I read through a SHO trouble shooting forum that this could possibly be a "CPS" (Crankshaft Positioning Sensor) problem because as it said, heat can cause failure.

The tempeture today was 105 degrees so I say the Yellow brick road is very hot in Kansas.

Can anyone shed wisdom on this issue?

The best place to start would be by reading the codes. You can do it yourself with something as simple as a paperclip or short piece of wire. There are three links in my signature to various resources to learn how to do this.

Once you get the codes read, you can refer to the cross-references on the sites and get an idea of what the problem might be. A 211 code would indicate a failing CPS.

Also feel free to post the codes here for a analysis! :)

If it ran for a few seconds then quit, I'd put more money on it being the fuel pump rather than the CPS. Usually CPS failures result in a car that will not start at all for awhile.
Hot weather can push an old fuel pump to it's edge, too.
But check thoes codes, if there's no CPS code, I'd go for the fuel pump..

My fuel pump's tone changed when it went out on me. If you remember what yours sounds like, try listening for it the next (if) time your car dies.
