I am new to this thing, and my name is jim. I bought a '92 sho last year and I love it; But after about 10 minutes of driving it will cut out and back in real quick. One time as I was crossing the intersection at a stop sign ditto, luckily the other guy was just creeping along. Que'est?

Or even better, learn to read them yourself! There are links in my signature that will show you the way. All it takes is a short piece of wire or a paperclip!

Unless you have an intermittent electrical connection, expect to find codes referring to the PIP (profile ignition pickup) sensor. That part is also known as the crankshaft position sensor (CPS or CKP) and it provides the signal to initiate each spark event. Without its signal, the tach will drop to zero (noticed that?) and there will be no spark generated. The Wells SU242 sensor from AutoZone is $34.99, but installation is a bit involved. Let us know what you find.

Hey, thanks for the replys to my aug 7 post of crankshaft sensor problem. I took a thursday and friday off work and tossed in saturday to replace the crank, cam sensor, water pump and timing belt while I was at it. Whew!!!!!!!! But man does it run a whole lot faster and quicker response. The initial warm up drag seems to be relieved also. thumb

Excellent. That new timing belt can restore a few of the lost ponies due to the lengthened old belt. You will see that the SHO engine benefits from the proper maintenance. You are apparently a well-versed mechanic and a fellow "keeper of the SHO." Welcome to the Forum.
