Im sure this will be easy for someone out there with the same problem in the past.. My 95 SHO will usually require 4-5 seconds of crank time before starting. In addition, while driving I will sometimes feel the engine miss a beat and set the check engine light on. I did a complete tuneup and fuel system cleaning. Im told the cam or crank sensor can cause either problem but cant remember which one. The last time I pulled the code it said one of the o2 banks was running lean.
Any ideas much appreciated....

the engine uses the cam sensor to know when to fire coil 2 when it cranks to start. I have the whole run-down in a book somewhere how exactly it works. i'd suggest checking the siganls with a LED test light before spending $120+ on both sensors, might only need one, or none if it ends up being a bad wire.

I wouldn't suggest spending a penny on any parts until you have a better idea of what is wrong. Your syptoms are not specific enough to lead to a reasonable level of suspiscion of either sensor mentioned.

Next time the CEL comes on, read your codes, write them down (the numbers, not descriptions), and post them.

Long crank times are often due to low fuel pressure. This should be ruled out before doing anything else in the absence of any other concrete information.

i've read that a malfunction in the fuel pump circuit, where the fuel drains back into the tank instead of staying in the lines when the car is turned off is usually the culprit for a failing fuel pump.

my sho takes a while to start too. try this:

turn the key to on, wait about 5 seconds then try to start it. any difference?

mine took the LONGEST time....

all i can think of that i did was the following..

Fuel system cleaner.... new fuel filter..... 80mm MAF (not to fix the problem... but for performance).... ported Throttle body.. and thats it.

now it fires up INSTANTLY
