engine change, please read

ok i just did a engine cgange. i have a 93 sho and put a 92 sho engine in it. i got everything hooked up, all wires, plug in etc. the only i could not hook up is a rectangler shape one thats is oval shape on the inside that plugs into it. it is attaches to the thick wiring harness right under the throttle body. its part of the engine wiring harness. i could not find anywhere on my wiring harnesds off the car a plug just like it to plkug into it and dont remember if the old engine had it or not. the problem im having is im getting NO FIRE and i dont think im getting any FUEL either. i dont really understand the deal with this plug, if i need it or what. has anyone ever ran into this problem before on a engine swap. please let me know anything that could help

Did you still have the original engine from the '93 to check to see what the plugs looks like and as to what it plugs into? Did you double check all of your fuel lines and everything for the "no spark"?

Make sure you have the throttle position sensor plugged in and the Coil pack plugged in. They both have plugs similar to what you describe.

It almost sounds like he's mixing & matching wiring harness halves - one from the 92 / one from the 93, and the connectors are different, for example, for the fans, IIRC.

Match plug colors & shapes. Also, if possible, take a photo of the issues you have with your connectors.

iam not getting any fire or fuel. is there anything special you need to do when you put a 92 engine in a 93 car? any ideas would be great. everything is hooked up like it should be

The engines are functionally identical. Not to be a ****, but apparently everything ISN'T hooked up right, or it'd run.

Seriously, best advise is to go back through slowly, double check all of the electrical connectors, grounds, and verify you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to "on" before starting.

Do you have a tach signal while cranking?

i will check tommorow about the tach signal but i am not hearing the fuel pump kick on since i did this engine swap. the car ran before so it has to be something small i would think. i have looked and looked and do not see anything left unplugged. there is the one plug under the throttle body that i cannnot find a plug off of my harness for. dont know if it was hooked up before or not. its on the harness off the engine, but cannot find one on the cars harness to match up to it.

IIRC. There are two identical gray and black plugs near each other. If you hooked them up to the wrong counterparts, you'd probably be in the situation you're in now. They're right over the tranny. Seeing that the CPS and fuel injectors are on that harness it could definitely be a possibility.
