Howdy.
I have a '92 SHO, and I kept running into issues with the fuel pump. I finally got it running again.
Anyways, the throttle has poor response time unless the MAF is unplugged. I found a vacuum leak right where the EGR valve mates to the intake manifold, and it looks like the previous owner removed the bolts holding it on. Would you happen to know either the correct size of bolts to replace it, or if I can remove it entirely and block it off?

You can block it off but you may have to do it at the intake and the exhaust manifold. I didn't have an egr car but I bet there is a gasket between those 2 parts. I will look around for bolt size.

Thank you, sir. My dad thinks that if I block it off, it might confuse the computer, so I'm not as sure about that, but I can always buy two bolts

My 90 didnt have the egr but when i had the intake pipes off it didnt look hard to block it off if it had it. The intake side is just on that one pipe. Not sure on how the throttle side looks with the egr. I think my astro van i put a penny or a nickel over the hole and bolted it back on lol

Haha, that might work, though I don't want to confuse the computer, since I can't reprogram it at this time

Usually obd2 or newer it can mess with. I dont think it will noticeably affect the computer on obd1 or pre obd systems. But the sho ecu is pretty advanced for its time. I would try to temporarily block it and see if it affects it. Before doing something possibly permanent. Older cars around late 80s to early 90s are kinda try and see type deals. Egr is very h ard on the throttle plate and intake with making it very dirty.

Wow i cant say h ard on. Lol

I'm having a hard time finding that sho specific diagram for fastener size. The gaskets are on Rock Auto and everywhere else. Contact SV&HOdan on this forum. He usually has parts cars and might have some spare bolts. You may have to get a dealer parts dept. to see if they can access the diagram to locate the specific part. The fasteners usually have dimensions in the system and they will give them to you if the part is no longer available (this is usually true for most obsolete parts and most dealer parts places).

That might work. I'll swing by a couple parts stores to see if they can at least tell me the size

Yeah, that might be worth doing, just as an experiment

Blocking the EGR will set the check engine light for sure. Just the outlet nozzles inside where the throttle body mounts being carboned will set off the light when there is no response detected by the DPFE.

The Ford dealer should be able to hook you up with the bolt, and a gasket if you're lucky. The part# is 90119-08146, a Google search shows the part number as also coming up as a bolt for Toyotas - M8x25HISWFW18mmOD0TSIL. You can go to the hardware store and get some M8 x 25mm bolts of various threading and see what fits. It doesn't need to be a hardened grade bolt, as it's going into aluminum.

Regular parts stores probably won't have old Ford diagrams. You would have to do it at ford parts dept. I looked at ford part sources online and could not find what I was looking for

Well, good news, fellas. I went by Car Quest and the manager helped me by trying a bunch of bolts, and we managed to narrow it down to an 8mil with fine thread. I'll send a pic later. But now I have to find a tranny cooler, somehow. He overheated and puked tranny fluid, so now we're back to square one. Thanks for all your help and suggestions!

As luck would have it, that's what I and the Car Quest manager narrowed it down to by trial and error
